If I want to sponser my brother to bring him to the USA, what is the timeline?

I have had some advise from lawyers online but each piece of advise seems different.

My status at this time I have a green card which is temp for 2 years, after which I apply for the conditions to be removed.

I have had advise to say that if I were to fill out forms now it would take 12 years but if I apply for him after citizenship it would take 5 years

Does anyone have any experiece/advise on this subject?

a permanent resident can NOT sponsor brother/sister

US citizen can sponsor a sibling. At the moment, there is a 12 year wait for a visa number in that category- Family4th.

Hi gemma, check out the Guides on here and you will find all you need to know. As the previous reply you are not in a position to sponsor anybody at this time.

Siblings(brothers and sisters) have to wait for an immigration number to become available once you have filed the I-130 as they are not classed as "immediate relatives" so can be a long wait. I'm sure someone will be along to offer more advice or corrct me if I am wrong but that is how I have read it in the Guides section

I have the same scenario...I am a US citizen and I am applying for my brother..I read that it may take up to 12 years...How about if I apply for my Mom instead. And then she can apply for him after she gets her green card. How long does it take ? Thanks.

If he is unmarried - a bit longer in total.
