hey.. i got some questions about the taxes for 2006..

we are about to file our I-751.. but we have some problems with the taxes.. it looks like we are owing something by the federal and getting something back by the state tax.. we just got out state back with a lil check but hubs forgot to make a copy of the check.. which is already cashed.. how can we prove now that we filed as married for 2006..? do we need to contact the IRS so that they send us a letter that shows we filed as married for 2006.. i dunno how we can prove it..

Uh, didn't you keep a copy of the tax return you filed?

Yeah.. they don't care if you owe the IRS anything... all they care about is if you filed it and that you filed as married...

When we filled our taxes with the accountant, he made us a copy...That is what I used.

My husband doesn't copy tax return checks either..LOL

So, what I did after I sent the petition...I called the IRS and ordered transcripts...
just in case they request more evidence...
