For the new electronic DS-156 the notes from the HCMC Consulate are very specific about only listing the city of issuance. My fiance tells me that is not shown on her passport. Is this shown on some, but not others?

Any guidance here? I don't want this to be the snafu on Interview day!!

Thanks!!

The city of issuance should be on the passport, right under the "Authority". Mine says "Passport Agency San Francisco". This should also be the same on your Naturalization Certificate.

tway22,

I think what AnhMap's asking is his wife's passport.

Anh Map,

Your wife's passport should say something like: Nơi Cấp/Place of Issue: Cục Quản Lư Xuất Nhập Cảnh
Crossed breed between Immigration and Foreigner Management Office, under the State Department but has something to do with the Interior Department, all comes down to "The POLICE" smile.gif
Your wife can put down the place where she picks up her Passport, most likely HCMC itself. Unless she is from the North, then Ha Noi.
We put down: HCM City for place of issue, no trouble! The consulate knows there are only a few places where you can have your vietnamese passport issued.
Good luck!

Correct the VN passport does not give a city of issuance. I had the same question. We are using Ho Chi Minh City as others have

Thanks.

I got my passport the old fashioned way: born in the US, though some folks thought I needed some sort of Naturalization form when I moved to the South years ago. But they settled on calling me a damn yankee. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

She did get her passport in her town. So I filled out one set of forms with her town's name, and one without. If she brings both sets and asks which one they want she can't go wrong.

The enclosure in her letter was very specific about putting the info as it appears on the passport, and the consulate says to put the name.

But what else is to be expected when dealing with the INS/Homeland Security/State Dept. smile.gif
