Hello,

I entered on K1 visa last Saturday and everything went fine until tonight; we were planning the Hawaiian wedding on April 15th, and just found out that the marriage certificate is issued to us in 4-6 weeks after the marriage in state of Hawaii.

This is way too late for us since I need to file for AOS by the last week of May at the latest.

Do you know if there is any way we can expedite getting our wedding certificate in Hawaii?
Any other options?
Can we use the marriage license instead?

Thanks!

I have no experience in this area.. but the Hawaiian vital statistic pages seem pretty helpful, and have numbers to call, and internet requests for forms. You could start your search here. *SIGH * I wanna go to Hawaii. smile.gif

I know that you have to get married before 90 days.....but never read anywhere that you have to send the AOS before 90 days, I think as long as you are married you are free to send it whenever you can...

Anyone correct me if im wrong ?

Thanks

I want to file for AOS/AP ASAP because we went to go to our European honeymoon by the end of June.

Why not get legally married at the court house now, and then do the big Hawaiian wedding as planned? If you want either AP or maybe your greencard (if all goes well) approved and in your hands by the end of June, you'll want to start the process ASAP. I'm pretty sure you'd get an RFE for the certificate if you sent in the license.

We got married at the court house and walked the certificate down to the registrar ourselves and had it in our hands within 5 minutes. I sent my AOS/EAD/AP out that very day.

Id suggest what mercy says, cause its a really short timeframe to get AP or GC for june

Even if you got your Marriage certificate the same day as your wedding and then filed the next day, you are unlikely to have either your AP or greencard in time to go to Europe in June... plan on AP taking 90+ days and greencard some time after that....

AGreed.. Unless you get married right now, today and file for AOS the following day.. hoping for an AP before June is a pipedream....and even then, the odds are against you..

In Texas, we took teh marriage license (signed byt he official) to the court house ourselves. They stamped it, registered the marriage and gave us certified copies while we waited. Took about 15 minutes total. Otherwise, it would have taken 4-6 weeks for it to come in the mail also.
