Hi there. I am Stephen, a UK citizen planning to come and marry Breezy, my american sweetheart (on a K1). I am so happy to read the good experiences on these boards. I have trawled the net looking at various visa sites, etc and not one of them seemed remotely as helpful as VJ.
A quick overview of our story:
March 2005 - Met online, while we were both married. There was a spark there from the beginning and a close strong friendship developed.
Sept 2005 - My marriage breaks down and Breezy and I realise just how strong we feel for each other.
Dec 2005 - I visit the US and we meet.
As she is married and has young children, we decide that our relationship needs to be a long term plan. I tell her that I will wait for her until she is ready/her children are older.
Sept 2006 - her husband loses their home - she leaves him.
Oct 2006 - My divorce is finalised in UK.
Nov 2006 - I visit and stay with her for Thanksgiving (the first of many I hope!)
Present - Planning a trip in May and waiting until Sept when her marriage is offically over and filing our I-129F
P.S. Are there any 'bad experiences' on here? (other than slow processing times)
Stephen and Breezy

Nice to meet you Stephen. I bet you are counting down to May, as I am counting down to April. Good luck on your journey. And you are so right about this forum, it's definitely the leader on the net for visas.

Welcome Stephen and good luck. Thanks for sharing your story. Another good example of how a lot of us here have found love in what other people might consider unusual ways. Sounds like you've been patient for awhile, try to hang in there and you'll be together for many Thanksgivings (mmm...turkey. I haven't been home for Thanksgiving in 5 years)

A quick question:
Breezy only works part-time at the moment (and having young children, almost all her money goes on childcare). Am I right in worrying about the I-134 form where she has to state that she is willing to support me?
I know it is early days still and that her circumstances will have changed by the time we start our VJ proper.
Thanks
Stephen

Stephen,
Breezy will need to make 125% of the poverty guidlines for the entire family she is supporting plus you. So if it is her, three children and you, that is a family of five.
this link will show you the guidelines.
http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DirectLoan...lc/poverty.htmlBreezy can however utilie co-sponsor. You can find some information here

Welcome!
Its nice to read your story, welcome to the VJ community!
I am sure you cannot wait to begin this process!
I am glad that you have found this site BEFORE actually filing, so you have all the best possible information at hand for you before you start. Make sure you have read and re-read all the guides and FAQ's, they will certainly help!
Good luck on her divorce getting finalized

Hello there!
We're another couple from the UK(NI)/US. We met shortly after my separation from my husband.
Once the visa and AOS processes began, I did the sponsorship thing while working part-time.

Breezy and Stephen Welcome
I'm half of a UK/US couple as well. I'm also most scared of the I-134 as well....this all sounds so familiar. I have joint custody of one child and Craig's had to wait for my divorce to finalize as well. The journey is long, but when you are really there for each other and really love each other it is soooooooooo worth it!! Can't wait to hear more from you guys, as we seem to be doing things fairly similarly!!
Let's here it for the britishamericans!!
