Well, I filled this in November when I received the packet 3...
But the date im expected to move to the states has changed ( of course we waited more) and also I made 1 more trip to the USA for christmas, which i didnt think I would do back in November.
I figure that as long as you bring the correct Ds-156 they just scan it and it gives them the right info right ? Like a new code is gonna be generated for each DS-156 you fill and they gonna get the info based on the one they see on your sheet?
Or is it a one-time-only form.
I dunno if I should just keep it like that and tell them at the interview about the last trip.
Thanks

Edit: just to add that im in the "old way" of sending papers to the embassy, where I actually have to bring the DS-156 myself rather than sending it with the DS-230 partI.....So i still have the paper here.

You should be safe to fill out the form again. The barcode generated on the website isn't transmitted anywhere or saved in a database or anything, and you're right about Montreal just scanning the barcode from the paper itself. Basically the whole purpose of the barcode is to cut down on the amount of data entry required.
I think I filled out the form nearly five times before I was satisfied

C. sent back his packet 3 in mid-December and then came to visit me; we didn't even think to update the info with the consulate, and it wasn't a problem.

After my, ummm... 100th time filling out the 156, I too thought that perhaps the barcode was being tracked ... however, I didn't care, lol. No - you can fill it out a million times - they don't care as long as the info is all there when you hand it in. Do what you are most comfortable with.

We filled ours out again, after Ron came to visit in December. He was worrying about the barcode thing too, but we went ahead and did it and it was fine
