Hello all,
I just recieved my NOA2 today. What is the next step after NOA2. I understand that the case will be sent to NVC then the embassy etc. But what forms are needed and what payments need to be made and in which order? I am leaving for india for 5 weeks to meet my fiance and I will not be able to check my mail here. This is why I want to get everything ready and all the payments amounts and forms fillled out and ready to drop in the mail. I can have one of my friends just mail them out as i check the status on the helpline.

I have filled out the i-134 and have all my tax returns and letter from accountant since i am self employed.
i have already asked her to get her police report her passport pictures 156 form etc.

I guess what im asking is what will i get next from these guys and in which order? so i can have it ready to go. your help is very much appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

The only payments of which I am aware AFTER NOA-2 are those made by the beneficiary:
  • cost of medical
  • visa fees at consulate

Namaste Raj,

Congratulations on getting your petition approved!

The next step takes place in India, so I don't think you need to worry about missing mail or friends needing to mail anything while you are gone. The petition package will go to NVC and then on to the Consulate in India you will be using. The package is also making a transition from USCIS (part of DHS) to a different agency: The Dept of State (DOS). You probably won't be dealing with USCIS again until your fiancee arrives, you get married, and file for AOS, EAD and/or AP.

For now, just be sure that your fiancee has everything she needs from you for her interview at the Consulate... Evidence of your Relationship, the I-134 package, maybe a little reassurance about what to expect at the interview itself. The Consulate's packet 3 will tell her what else to provide (which application forms, fees, medical info, police certificate(s), etc...).

I think I remember reading that there are some things about the process in India that are a little different from other countries, and hopefully someone will be along soon to explain.

Best wishes and have a wonderful trip!

Congrats on the NOA2!! kicking.gif kicking.gif

After the Consulate receives the file from the NVC, they will send out Packet 3. Your fiancee has to return that checklist with the various forms stated in the instructions (156, maybe DS 230, passport copy, etc.). After receiving that, the Consulate will send Packet 4 and the interview date.

I think India won’t give the police certificate until you show the letter from Embassy with the interview date on it.

Did you get a letter from your bank (as mentioned on the I-134 Instructions form)? When you go to India bring all the proof of relationship stuff you have (print out emails, phone cards, phone bills, etc).

Did you see “Embassy Info” at the top of this page, click on India and then either on Delhi or Mumbai Consulate, that gives helpful info on what is in Packet 3 etc. Also visit the Embassy you’re going through, Mumbai site is very helpful saying what is in Packet 3 & 4 (http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/). Good luck! good.gif
