What's the cheapest way to transfer money ($1000) from DC to Taipei, Taiwan? How much do you pay? Thanks.
ELW
I use Western Union (fast & safe!) to India which is only $15 fees to send $1,000 but I checked for Taiwan and it is $81 fees! ohmy.gif Wowsy! Maybe others will have cheaper ideas... unsure.gif

Not sure but if you both open up a Paypal account then it should be much cheaper. It is cents on the dollar. Can't hurt to check and see. The only requirement is that you both have bank accounts and credit cards I believe. Ken

Try moneygram. I always use their services whenever I need to send or receive money while in India. They are every where in India so I'm sure they have multiple locations in tawain too. Check out their website but one caveat.. it costs more to send it over the Internet than it does to send it from a moneygram merchant.

I use Citibank, They are in India also, so when i withdraw funds there, I don't get charge any extra so it's free. You can have 2 cards, One here and send the other card to your partrner that was you get free money transfer. I hope they are in Taipei also.

Another options is Etrade banking, since they have few atms and they deal mostly with online and brokerage account, you can open an account with them and do the same thing, send the other card there. You can widraw FUNDS at ANY ATM, they bank will charge you but not only Etrade will not charge you for using another bank, they will REFUND you the fees the other bank charged.
