I was one of those people who got at least one Tims a day and couldn't even win a cookie! It was a running joke cause it went on for a couple of years. My luck changed shortly before I moved here and won the camping gear package. We think it's cool cause we are probably the only Okie's who own a Tim Horton's tent!

Sometimes in the Salon, we would get Clients who came in with Timmy's and leave it without checking it. We would check it, but there was never a winner.

remember the issue last year , I think it was , where the kids found the cup in the garbage at school and they won a car and then the parents were fighting over who got the car.......
flames9
Feb 27 2007, 04:53 PM
I recall a similar story!! The kids found it in the garbage, then the dude who threw it out without checking it, stated he was the rightful winner. Never did hear the outcome!! I think the kids got to keep it, but not sure.

Feb 27 2007, 04:58 PM
yeah thats the one ........i think he was a teacher at their school.......i never heard the rest of the story either. seems i recall the 1st parent to the school was claiming ownership , like it was a race or something .
Allie
Feb 27 2007, 05:18 PM
The little girl that found the cup in the garbage eventually ended up owning the cup. Her parents claimed the prize. They had at first intended on sharing with the other girl ( the one who rolled the rim as the little one who found it couldn't roll up the rim ) and her parents.
But when her parents tried to claim full ownership because she rolled the rim they decided to give nothing.
The teacher lost his claim because ownership is to that of the holder in Canada and since he tossed it and the kid was then the holder it was righfully her's.
He gave up ownership and entitlement when he threw it away. Wonder how he sleeps now lol lol

Not related to Tims----last yr in BC a group of A&W restaurant workers won the lottery, something like $15 million. The hiccup was that there were 1 or 2 that occasionally played, but during that weeks lottery, they didn't pay (thus play) so when the group won, those that had not paid, tried to lay claim to their share. Anyone hear the outcome of that? last I heard that the ones that did pay got their share, but it was based on as if everyone had payed. So, the unpaying peoples share was put into a court orderd trust, until it could be decided. Never did hear the verdict.

Yeah Flames last I heard that was going to be tied up in court and they wouldn't let the money be released to the winners.
The group had a Lawyer who in an interview played the Lortto 649 advertisement where they say" you can't win if you're not in". He was showing since the other few weren't in that draw the advertisement itself claims you can't win if not in
I haven't heard any thing more on it though

that's a load of crap!!!!
every time I hear of stories like that in Canada , which are a daily occurrence in the states I say to my hubby........when they talk about the Americanization of Canada the biggest shame is Canada's getting the worst ideas we have to offer. I sure hope it doesn't become a litigious epidemic there the way it is here. The frivolity of these lawsuits is sickening beyond belief and the legal system allows for it.I'd hate to see what I think of as a common sense pratical country go by the way of the self indulgent, commonsenseless American legal community.

Awwwww. I miss Roll Up The Rim To Win.
I used to work with someone who was a bit of a health nut. He used to say...
"When you win a donut, do you really win?"

I guess I had enough timmies to win a muffin or a cookie or a coffee fairly regularly - I gave away the donut winning cups as well. Never won anything big but two very close friends of mine did - one won the mountain bike and the other won the camping gear. Both prizes were appreciated as both winners were able to put them to good use. I am enjoying my timmies here courtesy of my sister in law and brother's Christmas gift but I can't roll up the rim on my coffee cup.

We found Timmy's in CT today in New London and Groten and Mystic.. They are all up the coast for heaven's sake. We were so excited we pulled in and promptly ate a Boston Cream, Sour Cream and had a Med coffee..
WHO KNEW the US sizes sm, md, lg were equavilent to the CDN med, lg and x-large. I ordered a med not thinking and they came out with a large. My mouth was on the floor!! HOLY.
Flames, I played Roll up the rim today as well.. You will be happy to know I didn't win nothing.. other than the right to "play again". I blame fully the fact that I was unable to drink the full med (really LG) cup and had to pour some of the precious coffee out in order to roll up the rim - spoiled my luck I say..

My first USA tim hortons Experience was in RI, close to Newport. Went in and asked for a XL triple cream coffee, the chick comes back with this huge styrofoam cup with cold coffee!! lol What the hell's that!! She explained XL only came in cold coffee, lol So I got my large (which was XL in Canada) only to find out they didnt put enough cream in!! And i do belive they don't use 18% cream like they do in Canada, but I could be wrong. I plan on being back in Canada near the end of June for 3 weeks. lots of tims and cold beer.
