Good luck on your immigration journeys. Anyways, reading the VJ message boards, especially from the Canada section, I noticed that a lot of people were mentioning about Toronto, so I was wondering:

Is there anyone out there who lived/is living in Toronto, Canada? Which part of Toronto did/do you live in? If so what do you like the best and the least about Toronto?

Born and raised in downtown Toronto. Off the top of my head:

Favourite things

- multiculturalism (people, neighbourhoods, restaurants)
- access to anything I want or need within 15 minutes walking distance

Worst things:

- condos and the condo "lifestyle" downtown
- gentrification of downtown neighbourhoods

I lived in Toronto - I love it! I am always excited to go back - which currently I get to do once a month to see Michael

I'm going to miss Toronto a lot when I leave. But on the upside I'll get to (finally) live with my husband!

I'm very fond of Little Italy, Michael and I spent alot of time there when we were dating. We really enjoy going out to hear live music. I also like parts of Queen Street. We lived in a small apartment up in Forest Hill village for a year, and really liked that... and when I first moved up I lived in Bloor West Village, which is a nice area.

It's funny but everytime I'm driving in on the 401 I get excited... I guess it helps that I associate it with going to see Michael, but I've always like Toronto. Sometimes I can't believe that I'm choosing to live elsewhere, but it does make sense for us for now

I'm a Queen West girl myself but have also lived in a lot of areas in the city (close to Bloor West, Annex and Danforth).

Other friends of mine in the U.S. (MN, IL, NY) love Toronto too and are a little surprised I'm moving. But it makes sense for us right now as well. Who knows, maybe one day we'll come back.
