Hi everyone! My sister is going to spend 5 weeks in China over the summer with her college professor and a group of students.
She told me that she's going to so "see Tibet, stay in Shaogun, & then go to Beijing".
Can you give me information about a tourist visa please? Should she apply for the single entry? Is it still $50?
Anything you can tell me would be great - we appreciate it.

Thanks.

PS: Sorry for the double post - internet problems.

this is a good book to use when in china Tibet is considered china. As long as she is going in a group there will be no problem getting in to Tibet.

She wants to get the multiple entry visa. First if she goes to HK for instance, she has 'left China' and can't get back in. Plus a single entry visa is typically good for only 30 days. Is that enough? What if she likes it and wants to go back again? For a few extra bucks, get a multiple entry visa.

Usually such groups coordinate their travel plans including the obtaining of visas. If they are planning a 5 week stay, they will need to specifically request a longer stay at the time they apply for visas, get a multiple entry visa (and include an exit and reentry to China) or get their visas extended at a police station while in China.

I recommend this visa service. http://www.visa-chinese.com/china-tourist-visa.htm

If they live convenient to a Chinese Consulate though, they are better off walking in and making the exact arrangements they need.
