Has anyone used this POE? We will be using it to cross on wed. morning, and unsure of what to expect. Really hoping the Border patrol knows how to process K1 and K2 there

Aren't you able to enter at any POE? I would suggest you contact that specific border just in case. I'm sure you can locate their number on the border website etc...
I have a questio for you: What did you answer for Q 11 on the I-134 form. l need to know if my Fiance made a mistake by selecting the "I do not intend" on question 11 on the I-134 form???????? Under the tick mark, he state "N/A - K1 Visa process for permenant residence". Does that conflict?
Any clarrifcation from any body would be greatly appreciated. My interview is on Tues, and time is running out.

Yeah, we could enter at any border crossing, but Ivy Lea is the closest to us, right in between where I'm living and my mother's house where we will be for the last night, and puts us right on the easiest route to VA once we'd cross. Tried calling, its either busy or no one ever picks up.
For the I-134 he checked off I intend and on the lines underneath NA K1 Visa process for permanent residence.
edited because I can't spell today

Do you think that because he marked "I do NOT intend" to make specific contributions but still marked down "NA K1 Visa process for permanent residence", that we will be denied our Visa?

Amanda-Lise, whereabouts in VA are you moving. I'll be moving there too when I get my K3. Flames is also in VA. Hey, maybe we could do a VA Canadian VJ meetup!

We're headed to Richmond. Sooo excited now.
Kristen, I really don't think they'd deny you. You should be just fine

Definitely give that border crossing a call and ask them if they know how to and will process a K-1. Not every POE does and even some that are supposed to may not if the staff doesn't want to. I intially planned to use Sombra/Algonac Michigan as my POE as it was the closest - even drove to the border the week before to verify they would process a K-1 (the official said yes) and got some last minute tips of packing, etc. for customs as well. So, we showed up at the POE with 6 unhappy cats in their carriers and it is a different officer on duty. She flat-out refused to process the K-1 - said they didn't do it there. It didn't matter to her that the officer the previous week said that they did, she said that she didn't. We had to add an additional 3 hours drive out of our way to enter through Sarnia/Port Huron instead. Of course, the officials at Port Huron told us that Algonac should have processed the K-1 afterall and didn't understand why they wouldn't! Anyway, I suspected it was because of a lazy border official who wasn't sure of the process and didn't want to bother finding out and doing it. So, check with them before hand that they do have staff on hand who know how to process a K-1 and that they will do it Don't know what to advise if you run into the same problem we had with two different officials saying two different things:-(. Good luck on your travels.

Thanks Kathryn. Will keep trying to get ahold of someone. Really hope they do because otherwise its a 3.5 hr drive on top of the 11 or so it will be as it is. With 2 kids who get carsick even with gravol, this whole thing should prove to be interesting.
Woo hoo! another canuck in the area! Do you like the city Misa?

I think the city is okay. It's a nice city and a lot of it reminds me of London, Ontario for no particular reason. I visit every 3 weeks and my last visit before my interview is next weekend (*crosses fingers for an easy POE*). I've been there about um... 8 or 9 times now.
I'm in Toronto right now so moving to a MUCH smaller city will be a big change. Our apartment is close to Carytown and that's where I'll be moving to once I get that damn visa!
One thing that Richmond lacks is good vegan food options (which is really only a concern if you're vegan). There's a few okay places in the Fan, but that's pretty much it. We're not planning in staying there forever though. We're planning on moving to Chicago after my AOS is completed (and I notice there's a few other Canucks from here moving to Chicago!)
Do you like Richmond? What area are you going to be living in? PM me if you'd like!
