My fiancee and I just landed in Seattle on the 20th of Feb with a K-1, and now we're starting the AOS process. Are walk-in's to the USCIS a better idea than mailing? How long after the walk in will she usually recieve her EAD and SSN? Thank you.

It depends on where you live. To my knowlegde the "walk" in only works for the Dallas area, all other apllications should be send to the Chickago PO box.

This depends on where you live, if you live in Dallas or a couple of other places (as noted on the I-485 packet) you can walk in.

Otherwise it all goes to the chicago lockbox noted on the form. Read the form, it will tell you. Also, read the AOS guides on this site, they are very helpful.

The ead can take anywhere from 45 - 90, and right now seeming to take the full 90 days.
The SSN needs to be applied for in person at your local SS office. The guides also tell you what else you need to get that.

Seattle.

Seattle doesn't have a DORA program, so you can't do a "walk in". Just mail everything to the Chicago Lockbox. Oh and post AOS questions in the AOS forum! wink.gif
