Hey guys,

Mark and I are heading down to a city called Chino near LA in California in a few weeks to see how we like it (his company have offered him a job in their HQ there), and my big question is, does anyone know of some good, authentic British chippy's near there? I figured I might as well try and get some good fish and chips when we're down there. smile.gif They have a fish and chips shop in the city, so we'll check that place out. But I'd love to go somewhere with good British style chips, if anyone knows anywhere.

Also if you have any other recommendations of food places to check out while we're in the area, please post them. smile.gif We're currently in Salt Lake City, so we'll also be getting us some In N Out burger while we're down there, since there are none here.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I don't know about Chino area, but if you want to travel further into the LA basin there are 2 English pubs that are pretty decent:

Ye Old King's Head in Santa Monica

Thanks for the recommendations, Robin. We'll be heading to Santa Monica, because that's where Mark proposed to me. But we're going to eat where we did that day. But maybe we'll be able to head to Santa Monica again. smile.gif

Is that a recommendation for the place or a signal to stay away from it?

I for one am always more interested in the quality of the food that the quantity.
In fact, having mountainous heaps of food placed in front of me puts me off eating entirely.

By the way, the chish & fips at The Cat & Fiddle are not that good. But overall the place is nice.

It was a recommendation. There was a lot of food as I recall. But it was all good food! If it weren't for the fact that the next day we were driving back to Utah in the middle of summer, we'd have taken the food back with us.

hmnmm, I have always had good fish and chips at the Cat - not amazing, but good.

huff -- if you are going to trastevere, go right around the corner towards the ocean on Santa Monica Blvd. Ye Olde King's Head has Yep Olde English Shoppe next door to stock up on Ribena, Skips, Heat Magazine. Should you be so inclined.......

Well,

in Santa Monica you could go to 'ye old kings head'

If you went through the San Fernando Valley you could go to:

Scotland Yard
The White Harte

or you could just try:

don't know if it's too far, but there's Ye Olde Ship in Fullerton, not quite Chino but it's on the way.
