As soon as I got my EAD, I emailed a letter and my resume to the head of an organization I really want to work for. I was asking basically for an informational interview to introduce myself and discuss any possible opportunities there might be there for me in the future. I got an email back the very next day (which I hope is a good sign, either that or they want to get it over with), and I have a 30-minute meeting for this Thursday!

The problem is I haven't had a job interview since 2003, and I've never had an informational interview before. I am not even sure what I will say, what to wear etc. This is my one chance to make a good impression and if I blow it, it will probably wreck my future chances with them. AAAHHH!!!

let me be the first to say GOOD LUCK!!! i would treat this an a formal interview... be on best behavior, on the spot with the p's & q's... hehe... first impressions are huge! please post and let me know how it goes!

Keep eye contact -- this is a big plus I've always heard about. If you can't bear to look someone eye to eye, then look at the "third eye" in the center of their forehead.

Hi fellow Torontonian...boy I really miss my city...Anyway....make sure you end the info interview at 30 minutes. Do not try to stretch it beyond that unless you sense they are comfortable with doing that. Otherwise..you start to impose on their time..

ha! only since 2003? i've been with my company since 1989! the thought of having to interview again terrifies me.
