Hi There,
I just got of the phone with the DOL in Aberdeen, WA. There are no tests necessary anymore for the WA drivers license - just go in and pick it up! The officer told me it is all waived - at least for Germany. I will get the exact information tomorrow and let you know.
Cheers Anja

When I got my WA drivers licence, I had to take the written test and the driver's test, even though I had a Canadian (B.C.) drivers licence for 30 years.
I know if you want a B.C. drivers licence and you are from the U.S., all you have to do is take your U.S. drivers licence in, get your picture taken, and you will receive a B.C. licence in the mail.

I had to take the written test too and the drivers test. They even have a booklet about it in the drivers place.

I think they gave you false information, We were just at the DMV in Tacoma and they said that immigrants need the written and driving test as well as like 5 forms of ID including SSN

I won't need to take a test here in MA, but I'll need to fork over extra $$ for some conversion fee and also for some sort of international check. I also need to provide them with a copy of my Ontario driver's abstract (more money for that too of course), in order to obtain one.

WA has recently made an agreement to waive the tests for GERMAN licences only. The lady I spoke to at the DMV in WA last month said that other countries may follow, but for now it is only Germany.

I just picked up my DL

- Germany only - maybe because we are such good drivers.....

. I mean that freaking DL in Germany was so expensive and so many hours of driving. $45.00 here are just phantastico.

Wow you got lucky. I came here from Canada and had to take both the written and road test even though I've been driving for well over 20 yrs with a clean driving record.

Yep, I have a British License and a US Military in Europe License, and I have to take the tests too. I am hoping they add the UK on the waiver program before we move to WA at the end of the year!

Woo hoo!! Lots of Washingtonians!
Yeah wouldn't it be so nice to NOT have to take any tests...ok maybe the written would be good. Somehow I think the Uker's will be last on the list though because they'll argue they drive on the opposite side of the road. They probably figure since Germans make such good cars (cause american ones are rather crap...at least Ford lol) they have to be good drivers....Although I DO remember being in a Bus on the Autobahn and some old couple making rude jestures at us because we were going too slow. lolololol Hey Washington even has their own Bavarian town! Is there an Aussie or UK like town anywhere? Nope...we have Leavenworth! We love germans! lol ok well I love a brit, but I Am german decent....

sorry...being silly today....
