congrats tracy!!

sorry for being selfish here, but my question is: What about me??!!! as mentioned before, my packet 3 was received by montreal in late september 2006. i too, have yet to receive the letter darryl or colin have already received. when i emailed montreal, they said that i was awaiting an interview, but they did not mention that any letter was being sent to me!!

so, now i don't have a letter confirming that they have proceeded with my application, and i don't have an interview letter either! should i be worried??

thanks for all your help and support......

My interview is May 22nd per Montreal's interview today.

Matt I would call Montreal and ask them about the letter. That is what I did and they told me the day they mailed it and I received the letter a couple of days ago. They wanted to know how I knew about the letter and I told them that I talk to other people going through the same thing and then they told me the date. I was worried too since my letter came later than others but I would call them.

Congrats on the interview

WOOOO Freakin' HOOOO!! Congrats on the interview date, that is awesome! Too bad it's a ways off in the distance but hey at least it's a date to circle on the calendar and wait anxiously for! We're really happy for you and hope the same good things will come through for the rest of us.

Keep us posted as to your preparations leading up to the big day (medical, document checklist, etc)...you know we're all curious!!

Thanks for letting us know, congrats once again.

Matt -
The only way to find out "what about me" is to get on the phone and find out. The people here can tell you about their experience and whats happened with them but we can't give you much details about your case. My recommedation would be to email them, phone them, see whats going on. They're usually pretty good at getting back to emails and letting you know the status.

I spoke to Montreal today (20 min wait on line) I have not been booked for an interview yet, as of today March 26/07 .." Not for sure" .. possible booking by end of week says the operator but no
guarantees whistling.gif whistling.gif .

Colin
Tracy
Here hoping that you have one by the end of the week! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Darryl
Colin,

Hopefully thats good news and your interview will be booked this week or next. Are you going to call back this week/next week to find out or just hold tight and wait for the letter? Please let us know if you hear back from them!

Good luck

Hello,
I found this site accidentally and it's nice to read about others facing the same problems. I am a canadian citizena and my fiance is american, we filed for a petition in september and were surprised to be approved so quickly at the beginning of december, from there i thought the wait for the interview would be short and easy. The letter we received said it woudl be a 2-4 month wait, while an operator at the montreal embassy said it iwoudl be 2-3 months. I called last month and someone else told me it would be 3-4 months, now i called today and they said it's going to be a 4-6 month wait sad.gif. Why won't they make up their minds?? They also told me that they're processing October and November applications at right now and setting up interviews. I read that somone on this forum has got an interview date for may, so i think mine may be in july or august now sad.gif. This is so frustrating! Does anyone think that it will take longer than the 6 months? and can an interview be set for longer than the 2 weeks from when you get your interview letter?
Thanks for your help,
Jessie
Darryl
Colin - thanks for the update. I know they can be a bit agitated sometimes, I've got that "says here you called 3 weeks ago..." line too - they don't seem to understand the impact these immigration proceedings have on peoples lives...Hopefully you'll hear back soon.

Buttercup - I would try to stay positive with the mixed correspondance you're getting from Montreal. Seems to me they like to give you the absolute worst case scenario when giving out timelines....I guess that way you'll expect the worst and if they get you scheduled in 2 weeks instead of 3 months than you'll be overjoyed. I suppose it makes sense -- if they told you 2 weeks and it took 15 days you'd be calling freaking out because they didn't make their deadline - this is just a way to cover their butts I think. So keep your head up, I'd doubt it'll take 4-6 months and hopefully you'll get good news soon.

Good luck

Jessie, this forum and thread concern a different visa process than yours. I recommend that you look in the K-1 forum, the Embassy Forum and the Canada forum for more information about your type of visa application.

hello fellow VJ'ers

so i have an update as well..... acutally not much of one. upon the advice of tracy and others, i called montreal on wednesday to get more info over the phone. luckily, they didn't comment on the number of times i've e-mail'ed, and i try not to call them too much.

the lady on the phone was really nice and she said that they sent a "request for more info" to NVC on 3/20/07 and have not heard a reply back from them yet. so that's it!! still waiting, but she did mention that i should be getting my interview in may/june. i hope she's right!!

wish you all luck in your journey,
matt
Darryl
Matt,

Glad to hear you've got an update - hopefully May will be a good month. I read somewhere on here that interviews are only scheduled and passed out on the 15th of each month for the next round of interviews....and it kind of seems likely since the only people who got April interviews found out between March 15-21....so hopefully we'll all be in the next batch passed out on April 15th.

E-mail reponce received today April 3/07 from Montreal saying " they will resume scheduling next week..."

This concerns a request sent them asking for an update on my interview date.

Have I told you I hate waiting... just in case you where wondering..

Colin unsure.gif
Darryl
Colin,

Thanks for the update - I love that you email/call them so often! It's really great to get these updates. Lets hope the interview dates start flowing through next week! I wonder if the post I'd read about them only scheduling interviews for the next month on the 15th of each month is not the case? I guess we'll all have to wait and see. I'll be sure to post if I hear anything - if I don't hear anything next week I'll be calling on the 16/17 of April so I'll post when I get a response.

Thanks again Colin

Tracy
Well i'm a little concerned. We got the email on the 22nd of March saying our interview letter was on the way and the date was May 22nd. Well what we got in the mail was the Adam Walsh all clear letter over again. Now i'm wondering if they sent the wrong letter or even if we have an interview. Now I have to wait all the way until Tuesday to see what is up Montreal's rear now. Geez how hard is it to send a letter?
Darryl
Tracy,

Sorry to hear you're getting the run-around with the letter. Lets hope it was just a mistake and the actual interview letter is on it's way. Let us know what the outcome is! We'll keep our fingers crossed for you

Well i called Montreal today and my interview letter is being processed today and will be mailed by Thrus or Fri. It was never mailed on the 21st. I spoke to a very helpful person (rare at Montreal) and he explained that yes the interview was scheduled for 5/22 but they don't send the letter out that quickly sooooo it is supposed to be on its way by the end of this week. I guess we will see.....
Darryl
Tracy,

Great news! I hope you get it this week, I'm sure that will be a sigh of relief!

Hi Tracy

Glad to hear everything is still on track for you. I know that sinking feeling when things seem to be going awry.

I think I'll follow suit as Darryl. I'll wait until the end of next week, and if I don't hear anything, I'll call and find out where I stand in the queue. I eagerly check my mail each and every day for the sacred letter!

Hey everyone,

Well I got impatient and decided to confirm the whole theory of when interview dates are scheduled. I called Montreal and just asked the general question - how/when are Visa interviews scheduled? The lady I spoke to was really really nice and explained it fairly well.

Unfortunately for all of us in this thread....we are all second priority. The National Visa Center schedules their applicants’ interviews for Montreal first - they do this on the 15th of the month. So applicants who filed through USCIS/NVC get priority...whatever open date/times are available after the NVC has scooped up what they need - those are the ones passed out to us.

As an example, if for the month Montreal can schedule and accommodate 500 interviews...the NVC takes what they need (say for example 450) - the remaining 50 are used for us "special cases." These numbers are just for the purpose of the example (they were not provided by the lady in Montreal).

So inadvertently our interviews get scheduled after the 15th of the month - this is just because the NVC does it by then. So its some informative news...not necessarily good news, but informative.

Boy if we knew then what we know now, we would have done this whole thing differently. Unfortunately we're now too far along to change it up, so all we can do is wait...

Yes I called today too, wacko.gif and not scheduled yet, nice lady explained they are short on staff.
when I asked the question, are interviews scheduled after the 15th of the month, she said that was correct..

(thanks for your update)

Maybe we hope for after Monday the 15th hey ! We will beat this thing very soon !!!!

Well yet another unsuccessful communication with Montreal. I got impatient and decided to call Montreal today to see if our interview was scheduled with this latest "batch" of cases...I waited on hold for over 30 minutes and decided to hang up as I had other things to do. So of course I sent off an email asking politely if an interview had been scheduled in this latest batch. The reply....

Thank you for your email.

A date has not been scheduled yet. We will send out a letter as soon as
a date is available.

Regards,
IV Unit

FANTASTIC! I just love the vagueness...don't ever bother to give any more information than what is absolutely required. So even though we were told last month that we would be in the "next batch” apparently once again we were lied to and the communications coming from Montreal are not exactly credible.

I replied back asking for more information as to why this hasn't happened yet and when it would happen....lord only knows what kind of response I'll get back...I can pretty much guarantee it will be vague and inaccurate.

This is getting insanely frustrating! I'm sure many of you are in the same boat feeling the same anger and frustration with the complete lack of respect and information coming from a government agency...What do we have to do to get some concrete credible answers?

arrrggghhhhhhhh

Stilllllll waiting.......It's ok though - it's not like this process was initiated for a reason....we have no plans or ambitions after this process has completed....how do you spell sarcasm again???

These months of waiting just fly by don’t they…Hey after 8 months what’s one, two, ten, more???

Darryl

Darryl
Well Montreal has surpised the hell out of me....I called today to get some information as to why/when the interview might be scheduled. We are right on edge and need to start either making plans or breaking plans...so I called to actually speak to someone and see what the scoop is.

It was the fastest best call I've ever had. The girl who answered was polite and courteous and seemed genuinely concerned and willing to help. She took my case number and put me on hold for about 30 seconds, came back and told me our interview date was scheduled for June 1st!!!! She said we'd be getting the letter in the mail in the next couple of weeks...but its scheduled and we're all set!

This is such fantastic news! I have no idea why whoever responded to our email yesterday said it wasn't scheduled - neither did the girl I talked to today....just goes to show that the information you're given is always correct - double check.

We are soooo pumped and can't wait to get things going!

I called Friday Apr 20/07 and asked re my status ..but, rude person said, No appointment Yet , check in Month, and did not give me any time to answer any more questions .. and she was gone.

I think Montreal has gone over the edge..

Woo hoo - just recieved the packet 4 from Montreal - so our interview is confirmed and we're ready to go. Packet 4 is like 13-14 pages of information most of it you'll already be aware of - security procedures at the COnsulate, medical information, what to bring etc. If anyone has any questions and wants me to elaborate let me know.

One thing that surprised me was that you need 5 passport sized pictures - 3 for the medical and 2 for the Consulate - $50 worth. I thought we'd only need 1-2.

So I'm now trying to get the medical booked and get that process underway.

5 weeks to go!

hello fellow VJ'ers

so i'm in a really sad state right now. i was really optimistic when i heard of darryl's news and hoped that my interview was scheduled as well. i just got off the phone with montreal and my interview still hasn't been scheduled yet.

the lady on the phone was nice, but she said that i was still waiting for a date. i asked her who are they scheduling now, and she said they were scheduling october/november applications now. i was miffed!! i politely told her that i've been waiting since september 2006!! she put me on hold and looked at my file. when she got back on the phone, she didn't know why i was still waiting.

i heard her typing a bunch of notes and she said she was asking for an enquiry on my file. i told her that's what i thought was done on march 20, 2007! i've been sitting here waiting patiently and now i've been skipped over!!

i'm sooooo frustrated right now...... i asked her when i should expect to hear from them, and they said they'd be in touch with me once they hear something. that's a bunch of BS....... i'm gonna keep on calling them every week til i get an answer. i'm so pissed. this whole process sucks!

good luck to those of you who do have their interviews. but the system has seriously let me down.

Hi guys...am I correct to understand that DCF is still possible in Canada but only for USC *legal Canada resident* spouses to file for their spouses?
mkenney
FYI- I've been waiting since late September as well. They must not have forgotten all three of us.
Darryl
matt - that really sucks. I feel for you. Hopefully they'll do the inquiry and make sure you're scheduled on the 15th of may. I hope all of you get yours scheduled this upcoming round. I agree the process is flawed - if they're going to allow DCF than we should be able to have our interviews booked through the NVC like the USCIS filers - that way all interviews are scheduled the same way and in a proper order.

The one good thing is that once its doen once....it's done and you don't have to do it again. So hang in there.

Interesting... I just Called Montreal today( Friday April 27,07 12:05 PM ), and (after your hit # 4) quote it says:

So I saved you a call Hey !!!

Well people.... I called MTL again ajourd'hui and after 40 effing minutes on hold (without the usual classical music BTW), I finally reach Ms. Helpful who tells me "yup, you're on the waiting list for an interview, likely in June/July". Did the happy kicking.gif like for circa 2 minutes, then realised after all, it's Montreal.

Now, knowing they schedule interviews for next month on the 15 of the previous month I have all the intention of phoning circa the 17 (which is the day I scheduled my medical with Dr. Chana in Edmonton - better safe than sorry) to see what's new.

Any ideas on how to let MTL out of my head for a few weeks????????????????????

And all those of you with May interviews, good luck!!!! good.gif

Just go on with your life Len,lol I guess everyone handles this visa journey differently, I only emailed them twice for info the whole time. For me it would have made things worse calling/emailing every day,lol sitting and waiting for a response. Best of luck inthe process.
