Darryl
hello all - I have treid calling the USCIS from Canada and the numbers say the number isn't reachable from this calling area. Does anyone know of a number for USCIS that I can call from Canada? Or possiblly an email address?

I'm looking to check with them to see if they have received our petition sent from the US consulate as part of the new DCF processes.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Darryl

I've heard that people have had luck using skype to call from outside the U.S.

Thanks a lot! Skype worked great.

Any news yet? Did they receive your case from Montreal?
Darryl
As of now...who knows. I am incredibly reluctant to go through the process of calling USCIS again - it was a horrible experience (60 + minutes) and they gave me NO information. So for right now I'm just sitting tight.

Yes! Wow, such GREAT info! It worked (man, I love Skype) and the entire call (including listening to all the prompts) took less than 10 minutes.

I spoke to a SUPER nice guy, but of course, got the whole "we are still processing petitions from March..." schpeil. Eh, it was worth a shot.

Thanks SO much for this, riblet!!

Skype is a free program you can download (available for both MAC and PC) and use to make calls to phones (or other Skype members). It's like MSN Messenger, but with calling features.

Also, since I'm on a MAC and most of my friends/family are on PCs, Skype is the only program we can use to video conference (using webcams).

It's pretty darn sweet!

Edited to add: Some Skype features are free and others you have to pay for. I'm not sure what's what, but I do know that my 1-800 call to the USCIS was free.

Just for information I was able to call the Vancouver consulate and talk to a really nice guy. He was so nice that he actually called me when my package arrived in Vancouver and let me know that he was mailing out my packet 3 that day. So for those in the future going through Vancouver 604-6854311 ext. 235 between 1400-1600hrs. This may not help the OP but it may help someone.
