According to Mumbai Consulate web-site there is a table which mentions:

If the passport was issued more than 6 months prior to visa application and the applicant Is 16 yeas old or older then

1. Passport Office
2. The district police office serving the applicant's place of residence

Is the Police Certificate needed from both the sources or any one will do? We have already applied from the 1st source.

My fiancee is from Pune (near Mumbai). Has anyone done this? Do you know how long this takes?

Thanks for your help in advance.

You need both of them. From the main passport office and from the local city in which he resides.

you will need to have the letter from embassy for interview and then stated that you need PCC and passport clearance certificate and police both!! try to get that letter or appointment letter for that and then get the certificate like they do in govt.

pay them around 200 or 250 and you will recieved in 15 days!! the both pcc is valid for 6 month atleast!!

Good Luck

Thanks all for the replies. I have a little more information now. Looks like the PCC form from the passport office is different cannot be used atleast in Pune. They have their own version. Anyway it's been submitted now with an 'agent' helping out. Next there has to be a visit to the Police commisioner's office and should be all set at that point. Will post an update once there is more movement.

he zdnh,

My fiancee just got her PCC and passport certificate.. She lives in bombay and here is what she did
For PCC - she went to head police station somewhere in town side.. close to VT.. i m not sure of exact location. Applied there and then they sent the case to her local police station. Local guys did the check, and send it back to the head police station from where u get the ceritificate.
For PCC from passport office - she went to Passport office (newone) ner century bazar and applied. That was straight fwd too.. fill the form and pay 300 rs, original passport, n all..
Let me know if u need anything more on it.

Hi,

You have written that an 'agent' is helping out. What does that mean?

I live in Hyderabad and my passport has been issued from the jaipur passport office (I was studying in Pilani,Rajasthan
for 4 years).

Do you think that these 'agents' can get me a PCC issued from the passport office,Jaipur without me actually having to go there.

Thanks,
