I got married in India last year ... and I filled for my wife in September ... on 2/12/07 I got a request of more evidence, basically what they asking for marriage certificate...I thought all I need was "Church marriage Certificate" since I am a Christian and "Marriage Agreement" Does anyone have to go through this Please respond.

Probably submitting a marriage license would be a good idea, if you got married at a church they should have given that as well.

you will need court certificate from india and marriage certificate from india. you must have them! ask your significant other to get these for your....its sort of hard if you are not in india with him.her since you both have to sign those papers. however few thousand ruppees goes a long way.

The crackdown in visas in India is due to just that: "a few thousand rupees goes a long way" The US knows how corrupt india is and how easy it is to get fraudulent docs. In this case it is not a fake doc but unfortunately people do the same thing to get fabricated docs.

i am not talking about bribing a CO or something but i am sure u can find a lawyer or someone (in india) who will help you obtain the marriage certificates. remember your marriage is not valid unless you have the court certificate and marriage certificate.

Another way would be to call Department of State ask them to guide you. they have more jurisdiction over some of the process.

court regitration is a MUST for any religion hindu , muslim , christian,
if u are not doing it then countries like usa and uk dont consider the marriage valid
also its not tough to get it done
speak to your lawyer
as far as your partner isnt there the documents can be made to sign via express mail or courier
there is no exception made if you dont get it court registered whether your spouse is there or not in india.
