congrats,
i didn't even know that you can ask your congressman request to have ur EAD expedited. do you need to have a special reason for that and are there any special circumstances under which u are allowed to file??
thanks

good.gif way to go!!!

Wow! I'm like hanster.....had never heard of a request to expedite being successful.

Glad to hear it for you though!
jane2005
Thank you! I couldn't believe that they approved it either. We wrote them a short note outlining our financial difficulties, indicating that I had potential employment and asking that the EAD be expidited in order to avoid further finacial hardship. It's a huge relief for us, as I exhausted all of my accessible funds a few months back and needed to be able to work.
rebeccajo
Jane---do you have any way of confirming that the expedite is what got you the card?

The reason I'm asking.....I was watching the EAD timelines REALLY closely recently as Wes had to renew his.

It seemed to me that RENEWALS were taking the full 90 days. SOME first time issuances of cards took 90 days, but I did notice a trend of many first time applicants getting their cards in 60 to 90 day windows.

I'm really curious to know if the expedite request worked because I've ALWAYS seen it stated that the cards cannot be expedited. And I've also seen it posted by some VERY sage and long-term members of VJ that there's no such thing as an expedite for EAD. So if you managed to get one, that's very noteworthy.

And like I said, I'm glad to see you got it.

i wonder if outlining a "financial difficulties" would look bad when during the evaluation of the AOS application when they look at the affidavit of support?
if that is not the case, and if it is true that talking to the congressman did actually expedite the process, then everyone should consider this, i know i would
jane2005
I don't have confirmation from USCIS yet, but I should within a few days.

I was told by a congressional aide (when I called about something else) in December that they could help me with a request to expedite my EAD (once I applied for it). I actually delayed sending in the request because I had seen the same types of posts here, as you did, indicating that USCIS won't expedite an EAD.

My husband encouraged me to call her back last week, so I did and she told me that she had been successful in expediting EADS in the past. I faxed her my information last Thursday and she put in the request on Monday. My EAD application was then touched on Tuesday and Wednesday. I emailed her yesterday to let her know and she said she would check with her contact person at MSC today.

What I have now is an email from the congressional aide, letting me know that MSC has approved our request and that the card is in the process of being manufactured (takes 2-3 days, and I imagine that is when my online status will change). She said to expect the EAD in the mail with 10-15 days and to call her if my online status hasn't changed by Tuesday.

I feel pretty confident that she isn't jerking my chain (haha), but I'll feel even better when my case status changes.

This is awesome news!!!! Congratulations Jane!!! I'm very happy for you. smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Ty!

I did do a search before and found a lot of sites (including law and congressional sites) stating that EADs won't be expedited; but there are also posts by actual people who have had their applications expedited. Here is a sample (EAD was approved in 53 days) :

Congrats!!!

Jane if you would be good enough to post the details (once you have them) I think it would be of great benefit to this community.

'Cause I'm a conservative thinker, I'm going to state that I hope petitioners use these requests sparingly. Too many of them could spoil it for those who really need it.

Just my two cents.
zsam
Jane,

This is great news. Yes, please do let us know of the details. Those who have been waiting for the EAD for a long time could really use the information. smile.gif

Wishing everyone the best of luck with their EADs and AOS.

No kidding. You've been waiting for an EAD like what....a year?

Kind of obscene.

WAW, this is really shocking and sad, did you try making an infopass to see what is going on with you EAD? this is very ridiculous, i would go crazy after not working for a whole month let alone a whole year.
zsam
Yep, we made an infopass and were treated like %$^*. The officer was rude, and kept saying she could do nothing and that it was all up to NBC. She was very rude. Initially was nice, then all of a sudden her demeanor changed.

We finally got through to a new Senator and we're hoping something comes through and we get some information.

I am thinking of the FOIA but apparently according to the USCIS website, you can't use it for a pending case? Not sure but I am looking into it.
