Hello Everyone,

My husband'S conditional GC expires on 4/25/07. We sent the I-751 on 1/29 and received our receipt for the Finger Printing fee... We haven't rec'd anything since... I noticed that people usually receive their Biometrics date and if they are approved, they receive a letter stating that they have been approved for the permanent 10 year GC. However, I noticed that it takes anywhere up to 6 months to receive the permanent 10 year GC. My husband works with a government agency and his permit to work on the property expires on the date his GC expires, which is 4/25/07. Since it takes 6 months or more to receive the new GC, does this mean he will lose his job and can't work until he get his new GC???? We have two children and can't afford for him to lose his job and only live off of my salary.....

Any insight would be great...

Thank you!

Filing Form I-751?
Want to know what you can and can't do after your card expires?
Missed the small print in Ewok's post?

Read the USCIS page first, please.
How Do I Remove the Conditions on Permanent Residence Based on Marriage?

If you file your USCIS Form I-751 (Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence) on time, the USCIS will extend your conditional resident status for up to 12 months while your Form I-751 petition is under review.

Me: You will be mailed a letter receipt for your I-751 stating the above. Carry it and your expired Green Card as proof of your continued status as a PR. ie: Nothing Changes.

Yep, first you should get a notice of action (I-797C) that tells you the your residence has been extended a year and how the process works after that. A day after that (for me anyway) you will get the biometrics appointment date. That is where I am at.
