Hey all,

This is my first time posting because its the first time i am running into a problem. I received my second NOA saying that my petition was approved and being forwarded to the NVC. So I begin gathering the documents I need to send to my fiancee in indonesia. I asked my supervisor if she could provide me with a letter verifying my employment. She told me she was not authorized to do so, but HR would do it. So I go to the HR manager, and she tells me she'll do it but they are not allowed to disclose my salary in the letter. I know that the salary is an integral part of the letter. Would it be an issue if my salary was not included in the letter? I definitely make more than the poverty guidelines. I also have my 2006 tax returns as well as W2 and all my pay stubs for all of 2006. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Oh and one more question. Does the tax return need to be notarized? It seems like everyone has a different answer for that question.

If the employer won't disclose salary you can include pay stubs to validate income. I submitted 15 or so, I believe in over-kill tongue.gif

I would ask HR to include that in the letter: "Our policy is to not disclose salary, however, aagoes has been employed with x company in x position for x number of years." Then, include your pay stubs with that letter.

Only the I-134 form needs to be notarized.
Some consulates request tax returns/W2s from the past 3 years.
You could e-mail them to ask if it is ok that your letter does not include your salary - if you earn enough than you should be ok good.gif

I think if I were you I would first, try to convice your HR Dept to put the infos about your salary on the letter. Tell them that it's special, cuz the US Govt requires it that way and you would not show it to anyone else but the authorized, so there should be no problem. But if it doesn't work, I agree with jasman0710. Submit your paystubs~~~! Good luck!

I have a secondary question on this topic... Does the letter from the employer have to be notarized?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone.. much appreciated. I'm just going to settle for the letter that they gave me which states that I am currently employed and been employed there for 2 years. I'm sure about 20 or so paystubs would do it in addition i have my tax return and w-2's so there is no reason to doubt how much i earned last year.

No James, the employer letter does not need to be notarized. Just the I-134 needs to be notorized.

That's right - the employer letter does not have to be notarized.
It should, however, be on business letter head.
