We carefully considered the options, and we have the following:
Majdolin, Dalia, Noah, and Qais.

I told him we could trade Madeline (my fav since I was like 6) for Majdolin, but I refuse to trade Noah for Nuh which is hard to say and not nearly as nice smile.gif

No, he's Muslim so they have a set pattern. One given name, then his name, then his father's name smile.gif

what about what YOU want? or do you not care? i mean, for me, i wouldn't agree to that. my family has their own customs with names so why should i be any less important?
yassmine2878
Ahmed and like the name Mehdi for a boy and Safae for a girl smile.gif

I am not sure they are actually flexible in their naming process. Whereas we are. I have only one tradition in the family, oldest girl gets her mother's name for the middle name. That's all smile.gif Otherwise, names are generally random and up to whim.

But that's part of why we are sticking to Noah. Or I am. And I will NOT let them knock me out and wake up to find a Nuh. I'll have that sucker at home if I have to and drive myself in to get a NOAH smile.gif He laughs, he knows I am determined in this one. I nixed all kinds of names he chose though, things like Amr, Ahmed, Mohammed, Hamed, anything related to Mohammed, etc smile.gif I even nixed Isa, I just don't like that! LOL!
sereia
I like Noah. That's a good compromise. In my family (I think its a religious tradition, but not sure exactly) I'm supposed to name my daughter after my dead grandmother, Anna. But that name sounds really stupid with my fiance's last name (which also starts with an A) Maybe we'll do it her middle name. If I even have a girl. wink.gif

The naming thing you're talking about julianna isn't a Muslim thing per say. My husband is Muslim and he has a first and last name - no other names included. In most of Morocco that's how it is. Our son is Khalil but we also liked Tariq for a boy and Malika and Kenza for a girl.

OO, they don't do it in Morrocco? I can say that to him then! He and my egyptian friend both agreed on it being Islam. Yay! Score one for me smile.gif I can argue against it for the girls.
sereia
well then ill mention my fiance has no middle name either! smile.gif you know, to help further your case.hehe (but he really doesn't! have one!)

julianna
I like the name Khaled! But Dh already has a brother that name. Khaleda is one of my favs for girls too. And Yasmeen. I like the name Mahala, which SOUNDS arab, but it's actually norwegian!

I haven't found any arabic girls names that I like other than Meriem (Mary, Mariah, Marie, etc.) I'm actually hoping that I won't have to name any daughters arabic names. Cause if there is more than one, we'll be like George Foreman hee hee.
Henia
My favs:

Girl: Jehen, Safiyah (Sofia), Meriem, Noura, Esma, Malika, Fatime-Zahra, Safran, Cherifa, Malek

Boy: Sidali, Kerim, Yousef (Josef),Medy (but my husband says no more Medys, or Ahmeds/Mohammeds in the family) Bachir, Emil, Imren (my granfather's name) Gibreel, Adam

I hate: common names, names like Sheba, Zainab, Houda, any kind of Abdul (Abdel)-something name,(asking for trouble) or Zubina, any name thats sounds like Zub, Abir (sounds like a beer...donnot want my chidren being teased) or names they could not ever live up to like Rasoul, Jaami, complex names like NabiyautTawbah or Khaatamual Anbiya.

Does anyone know is Raziel is arabe or hebrew name?

Julianna: Mahala sounds Hawaiian, like mahalo.... Sorry blush.gif

I have always loved Amira or Sanaa ( or Sunah). I used to like Zacharia for a boy, but leaning toward Amir. I am hoping for a little girl inshaAllah once we are married.
The_dip_sticks
I have always liked the name Ramses for a boy and Fatima for a girl. Hubby and I have came up with Jade Salma Khan sounds cute or a name with Fatima in it and Ramses Khan sounds like a poweful name. I know Jade is not a muslim name but well.....there has to be a compromise in our family when it comes to names. My family still cant pronouce my husbands last name correctly. They have thick mexican accents so instead of saying Khan when they say his last name it sounds more like CAN LOL. Im going to have to work on that I dont want to be called Mrs. "CAN" the rest of my life jajaja
doodlebug
For a boy he wants the name Adham...which is some kind of arabian horse. He's dreamt of this his whole life. I"m like, the kids are gonna call him Adam not Adham 'cause no one here has heard of an Adham. I want Said but when I mentioned that to his sisters they both instantly looked at him and said something in Arabic and then I heard the name Adham. lol. I think my name will be mud if it's not Adham so Adham it is. And I can't even get Said in there as a middle name 'cause he's Egyptian and it has to be Adham Usama Said Mohammed Macmoud xxxxxxxx. That kid'll have fun orderin' a pizza!! laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

For a girl I love the name Sofia. . . but to be honest I have two girls and insha allah it will be a boy when I'm pregnant because Allah knows I'll have a mental breakdown if I have another girl. wacko.gif Too many hormones in one house between me, my two daughters and my cat. One more and I truly think the earth will shift. tongue.gif

That's weired I never heard of that ??? I am a muslim too but I never knew that Middle names are something not accepted in Islam?? are they??
maryandatif
I have a friend and she and her husband [Moroccan] had a baby girl and named her J'enna-means paradise.

IF we EVER get pregnant..and I have a boy-Atif said that he wants him named Adam-because Adam was the first man in all religions and nobody can argue about it! laughing.gif

Mrs. Forgetful
We like a few names, but I am not sure if they are considered arabic names per say, but I know that they are names that you would find in Morocco.

Farah and Runya(not the exact spelling) for girls
Zakaryah for a boy
MrsAmera
Henia --- When I was pregnant with my first son I wanted to name him Imre because there was an auther named Imre Kertez (i think that's the last name) and I loved his writing. Everyone harrassed me so I named him Mikhail instead.

We have a lot of trouble with finding jewish/arabic names. For boys we can only agree on Adam. Noah is another option but I don't like it as much. For a girl we like Naima (kind of like naomi) and Zahra (his mother's name, also my great-grandmother's name)
JODO
On my last flight to Egypt , I sat next to a lady named Habiba on the flight and she was soooo nice.
