We applied for AOS and EAD (separately) when my husband arrived with a K-3 visa. I received 3 identical emails saying the EAD was transferred to Vermont. I thought it would be handled through our local office, Newark, NJ. Did I miss something?

They don't process EADs at the local office. It's probably a good thing that it was sent to Vermont. It'll more than likely be processed faster than at MSC.

Check this thread out, someone on a K3 had their EAD approved in a couple of weeks:

Thanks! I read the thread but it's not clear how the EAD could be approved prior to having biometrics. (Never a dull moment.) wacko.gif

How DOES an EAD get approved without biometrics?? Interesting. I'm just as lost as you about EAD applications being transferred. Sorry I'm no help. For your sake, I'm certainly hoping it's good news, however...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for K-1 visa the biometrics fees are attached to AOS paperwork (I-485), not the EAD (not sure if that is the same for K-3'ers). Why do you say the biometrics are then attached to the EAD? Just curious more than anything really smile.gif

Emancipation, we elected to file AOS and EAD separately, in hopes he could work in roughly 3 months, while the AOS might take 7 months.

The NOA1 for EAD says that the next step is to have biometrics. It's also the next step for AOS, and he's scheduled for next week for that.

(Does any of this make sense? Are you still looking for logic?!)

hee hee.. yep a little clearer.. just been trying to work it all through in my head for EAD's personally the past while.. For example IF temporary EAD's for K-1'ers can be issued at POE (without "official" biometrics being done), logic would tell me that biometrics are not really that important for EAD.. I dunno.. I guess I'm trying to logically understand a process which probably can't be logically explained smile.gif
