Does anyone know how to get waviers for the medical exam? My wife and I just found out that she's pregnant and I believe that they're certain things that pregnant woman shouldn't do like X-rays and/or vaccinations. I'm having her check with her doctor(PCP) and the docter doing the medical exam. But I was wondering if anyone has had any experinece with this?

"What if I am pregnant?

If you are pregnant, you are required to have a medical exam, but some parts of it may be postponed until after delivery of your baby, depending on the circumstances of your case. If you have any concerns, you should discuss them with your family doctor before the medical exam, with the Civil Surgeon, or with the Panel Physician." Source: VisaPro

Thanks kitkat1 for passing that info on to me!

I'm having my wife really check into this. I'll keep everyone posted.

It/s not a waiver, as in a form you complete. The doctor will not do any tests or procedures that would be medically contraindicated for the pregnancy.

We were advised to not choose and get the vax we "thought" we needed from the chart before the medical, but to let the doctor do his eval and exam. As it turns out, two of the vax that we thought we would have to get were not required due to my spouse's age and upbringing.

When you talk with the doc your wife will see for the medical, be sure they are clear it is for an Immigrant Visa and not a K visa (K's may complete their vax in the US before Adjustment--IVs won't have that opportunity).

A friend of mine was pregnant when she had to get her medical. One of the docs (in Paris) wanted to do the X-Rays, so she just went to another. NO WAY a pregnant woman should have a random, just-for-the-heck-of it X-ray

All pregnant women beware! You are NOT nor SHOULD NOT take X-Rays and/or and some vaccinations. protest6wz.gif Some of the doctors that do the medical exams might try to do these things anyway. No matter what they say DON'T do it. protest6wz.gif In order to bypass this, the pregnant woman should get a certificate by her personal doctor saying that she is pregnant and cannot take X-Rays and 'whatever' vaccinations. I think it's the virus vaccinations that are dangerous. My wife and I have just gone through this. Some of the medical practices in some of the other countries are not up to U.S. standards. So be careful! Study and read for yourself to find out what's best for you and your unborn child. I hope this helps!!
