Just curious if people are loyal to just one airline or do you shop for the cheapest price?
A.J.
Domestically, no - not loyal at all. My only concern is price.

International, depends on destination. For flights to India, I like flying British. I hate Air India. For flights to other international destinations, I am more flexible on carrier.
just_Jackie
Loyal to Royal Jordanian. I've used them twice, Mohammed once and we will use them again this year for our vacation.

I fly only American Airlines whenever possible - I am VERY loyal.. But lately to Mexico, Mexicana's prices and times are significantly better (more than $200 less) so I'm flying with them these days. They also now have a Concierge program that allows me to check in the night before, no waiting for three hours at the airport and they meet me and take my luggage. I don't get elite qualifying points on AA, but I do get miles for my Mexicana flights on my AA account which is really all that matters in the end. . . .honeymoon miles!
Matt85
when i can afford it, i really like flying asiana airlines

last time i flew, it was china air, and it was horrible.
*Marilyn*
we like to fly with Alaska because we have air miles with them and they also usually have the cheapest flights....
Scott & Lai
When going to Hong Kong, I like flying Cathay Pacific.

I'd never fly China Air; it has one of the world's worst safety records. In Hong Kong, it is called "Sky Coffin." helpsmilie.gif
bora bora
None of your choices were airlines to South America.
Domestically I usually fly Delta (because I have miles - and ONLY because of that) or Jetblue (also have miles) and they're usually the cheapeast between FL and NY.
Internationally I look for the cheapest flights as well - the Brazilian airline TAM is showing to be cheap and comfortable.

Not loyal ....But I like Lufthansa because the drinks are free smile.gif United charges....Moldova Air is great and they serve this regional Salad that is great...but after I bite I couldn't eat anymore has it had garlic in it....If I would've finished imagine my poor SO ..first and second visit..

SoL.
I prefer KLM/Northwest but I am flexible when it comes to cheaper prices. I avoid Continental Airlines, their prices are better but their service sucks!
Jenn!
I go for the cheapest price always.

One time I got bumped up to first class on British Air Boston to London. That was by far the most enjoyable flight I've ever had, so I would call BA my favorite airline. Even flying them in economy class has always been a good experience for me.
sophyie
For me it depends on the route.
There are no direct flights to Seattle from Germany- I usually take flights that either connect in Europe or on the west coast, to have one very short and one very long flight.

I end up flying United a lot, sometimes Lufthansa or SAS. With all three I get miles. I prefer United.

For domestic flights within the US, I don't care.
Savanphil
Only airline that I am loyal to is AIR JAMAICA, when making my yearly trips to Jamrock. I love them becuase you get food, and champagne(sp?) for free. The planes are comfy and beautiful

Anywhere else I'll fly who ever is the cheapest.
DeadPoolX
I usually fly Continental Airlines. I find I get the best service from them, and one of their main hubs is in my city, so it works out the best. Unfortunatelty, CO also seems to be one of the more expensive airlines to fly with at times -- especially when booking trips to Canada. So I've flown with Northwest as well. Recently, I've started looking at United Airlines and Air Canada as well (but only because they're less expensive and have better time slots).
tom&tata
For flights to Indonesia, we are leaning towards United - out of Chicago, direct to Hongkong with overnight in Singapore - the least lay over we found so far. And the price is not outrageous either, so usually it is United.

For flights within Asia, I am leaning towards Singapore Airlines.

Magenta
Not loyal, but I do have a soft spot for Delta. Every time I have flown with them it has been a good experience.
CherryXS
Generally, I shop for low price.

But I do have some preferences:
  • British Airways for Atlantic route journeys
  • Singapore Airlines for Pacific route
  • AA, Delta or Northwest for trips to Canada, most US
  • OK to use other airlines (Southwest, JetBlue) if they go that route within US
Augustajim
United. miles add up and business class is the only way to fly 14-15 hours

QANTAS!!!

All my trips to and from Germany and Australia, have been with Qantas. Also all my flights to and from the USA and Australia have been Qantas.

Qantas international has free food, and alcohol, and even after the evening meal, they give you a free bag of goodies to get you through the night, til the early morning meal. And thats a good deal, when its 21hours from Germany to Oz. They also have lil screens behind every seat, and you have your choice of 4-5 movie channels and 12 other channels in Economy and 6 movie channels in Business class, not to mention a load of games you can play too,..Good for the kids!!

Last trip back to the States was with American, and I certainly will not complain,..had a really enjoyable flight, and I still accumulated points being part of the Oneworld alliance.

Have also flown Lufthansa to the States,...both my husband and I thought the seats were mega uncomfortable, and British Airlines when I did my round the world trip a few years ago, also earned points for Qantas through them, Good food, entertainment, and staff were wonderful..they would be my second Favourite.

I am about to fly Alitalia this Friday, from Germany to Rome and return Monday for 188 euro, or about 250usd, will see how that goes I guess....

Quantas is great! I got all excited when I found out that the flight from the West Coast to Australia is much shorter that the flight from Germany!

Can't wait to go!

I flew China Air from Beijing to JFK in '05 and it was a 13-hour torture session. The food was pretty decent and the flight was on time but dang, no amenities like video screens (pretty standard for the extra-long-haul flights even in coach now no?), and I swear there was one screaming child under 5 in each row...not CA's fault but it added to the general suckiness of the experience. On my last trip to Kat I flew Gulf Air and was very happy, had an extremely tight connection in Heathrow b/c my flight from JFK was 45 minutes late taking off, even though the flight was closed at the time I ran to the counter they let me on, Alhamdulillah!! kicking.gif

For long-haul flights I like Continental (they have a nice nonstop flight Newark-Honolulu) and the absolute best has to be Singapore - too bad they don't fly to Kat anymore. You've gotta love it when you ask for a veg meal and you have a choice of Chinese, Indian or Western... For my upcoming trip I would like to fly with Thai - they seem to have the best deals now from JFK - KTM, I have heard great things about them and I would like to spend a few days in Bangkok on my way back to Zoo York City. If I were feeling adventurous I would try Yeti Air(because you gotta love an airline named after a mythical hominid) or Royal Nepal but since I am hoping for a future with my fiance I think I will pass this time... unsure.gif

In answer to the question, I almost always go for cheapest price.

If you could would you post how that flight goes? They're offering really cheap flights lately but the reviews I've seen on epinion are horrific, though some people you just can't please.
jodee
Sure, would be happy to give you my opinion, when I return,... good.gif

No loyalty whatsoever, but I usually end up flying Delta or American, just because they're invariably cheapest!
kisschick1976
I prefer Continental because I want to have the screen in the back of the seat, it helps keep my mind occupied because I am usually scared out of my mind laughing.gif I did fly American for my first flight ever and I remember having to peer over rows of seats to watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond projected on a wall for the whole flight from France to Dallas. no0pb.gif

For my next flight I chose Continental and their 500 mile bonus over American and their 10,000 mile bonus for flying to London and savings of $11.00. laughing.gif

My town is kinda small so our airport dosen't go to many places, this gives me fewer and more expensive options. It's only an international airport because every so often it gets a flight in from Mexico laughing.gif

I have frequent flyer mile accounts with both American and Continental, I think I want to trade someone my American miles for Continental miles. Has anyone ever heard of this? (or would be interested?)

I flew that route (Rome-Frankfurt) with Alitalia once but it was maybe 10 years ago so maybe things have changed - no major complaints, with a flight that short as long as it's reasonably on time and I arrive in one piece I'm happy... smile.gif
garyandmarylou
For domestic travel, whatever is the cheapest!
Always use Aer Lingus when flying to Ireland.
KarenCee
I usually go for the cheapest rate. However, I have an American Express Delta Air Miles CC. I've flown Delta a lot, Continental second. Right now I'm just hoping to get enough air miles to fly home before I'm too old to fly. wink.gif
Fuzzness
always with cheapest but if we have a choice i prefer skyteam airlines
We_Destiny
Domest not so loyal whatever is cheapest. But intrenational KLM the Gold skyteam is great.
Happy Bunny
I will only fly Virgin for a transatlantic.
featherB
I've never flown with Virgin, but always hear great things about them (I just go for what's cheap and fits in with my dates/times though). I always seem to get Delta & American coming up cheapest, and yet when I booked flights for my mum to come over for a few days & visit me & the boy when I was there... Virgin came up cheapest (with the connecting flights with Delta, I think). Typical! (She was very happy, though... but why do I never get that?!)

TracyTN
I've only ever flown American transatlantic. My fiance has flown both American and United - said both were comparable in service, but his United experience was tainted somewhat by the hell that is Dulles airport. laughing.gif Seems like AA is always a slight bit cheaper for me so that's really the only reason I've stuck with them (and having all the FF miles now doesn't hurt either!).

Domestically, not as picky. Though I've been finding American not much more expensive than Southwest - particularly if Southwest's promotional fares are all sold out - in which case, AA is almost always cheaper.

I have flown on Alitalia one time from Madrid to Venice. It was a pleasant flight.
Arazia
Whatever gets me/him there cheapest. And I prefer American if I can help it.
Donna A
i take what is cheapest. i do like northwest/klm for the convenience of haveing all my boading passes right from checkin in cleveland. no ticket lines to wait in later. just find ur gate and off we go.

hassan seamed to like italia airlines. i guess they were cheapest when he came here. he like turkish air also.
SoL.
Even tho I preffer KLM/NWA, I had a pleasant experience flying with American to NL. Their service was great. Domestic I usually fly Delta but I looooove Midwest Airlines, they bake chocolate chip cookies on flight (smells heavenly on the plane) and all their seats are like first class! kicking.gif
lirachadsbaby
I prefer Philippine Airlines for domestic and International flights. I find it warm and safe. I've tried others but its stinks. ewwwww(won't mention anymore)
shannon65
Been to Korea three times to visit fiance
1 - Korean Airline - very nice, nonstop from NY, but $1400.
2 - United Airlines - had to stop in Japan on the way over and San Francisco on the way back, but the price was $750 including taxes and fees. Got it from a travel agency in Georgia which mostly deals with people who speak Korean.
3 - could not buy my ticket 7 days in advance from the agency in #2, so had to shop around on the internet. Paid about $1175 for United to California (slept in airport) then Singapore Airlines to Korea, on the way back stopping in California again. Singapore Airlines is very nice.
MPGGPM
I'm pretty loyal to Delta ONLY because we have their sky miles card. And between all the flights I have taken to Istanbul over the past 2 years, and all the flights my wife has made from there to here, we've accumulated nearly 60,000 sky miles a piece. One day when she finally gets her green card, we are going to take a nice relaxing trip somewhere good.gif (we've been thinking about going to Tokyo).....................and try to recover from this immigration headache. After 2 years of being apart, we NEED a vacation...and a break!

If it weren't for having a sky miles card with Delta, I wouldn't care what airline I fly with. And, even with the sky miles card, if I find a really good deal with another airline, I'm willing to fly with them. (For example, last spring , we flew with "ATA" to Chicago...because they were nearly $100 a person cheaper , at that time, for the trip.)

sparkofcreation
Whoever (1) isn't Delta (2) has the best connections and (3) is cheapest, in that order.

Can barely even find direct flights to see my family on the other side of the country, let alone G's in the UK, so connections are crucial.
Len & How
Traveling from Prague to San Francisco and back I like using European carriers, since they have a wide selection of one-stop flights. Lufthansa would be my favorite, then KLM; BA are pretty good also, but I really don't like Heathrow! I only used American carrier once (Continental) and the whole trip took almost 24 hours, flying Prague - Paris - Houston - San Francisco. Never again! no0pb.gif
Kelechi
I like to fly KLM because it is part of NWA. Using them gives me more free miles under my World Perks. After you get a certain amount of miles travel you get a free ticket. So if you will be traveling a lot you should try to sign up for something like this. You may eventually be able to fly free oneday.
Cassie
we've pretty much stayed loyal to American Airlines since my move to the US -- they have the best rates and routes/schedules for us when flying to Halifax, and we've never (knock on wood!) had problems with our luggage.
Roy and Yazi
If flying to the Philippines, I use PAL.
Labanah_y_Iyan
I always fly with Delta. I live in Atlanta which is Delta's hub so I can fly most places in the world non-stop. I've been a Delta fan since I was a little kid, Love 'em!
jodee
Am pleased to add that the flight from Frankfurt to Rome two weeks ago was a pleasant flight. It was a short 1 hour 40 minutes, But I had no complaints,...

I can't afford to be picky. I can't say I am excited about my trip with the cattle car that is US Airways. God they suck, but I can't afford better. Any other airline wanted anywhere from 400-2000€ more per person and we looked and looked. WTF? I certainally don't gave an extra 700-3400€ lying around (my daughter has to have her own seat. No getting around it).

I liked SAS for long haul. Short haul is horrible. United was also OK, but I got bumped to Economy Plus where basically no one was sitting, so that probably colors my view of it a bit. tongue.gif
KansasDragon
Not loyal to any one airline, but so far Northwest/KLM has given me the best pricing to the Philippines, so have been using them.

Of course, flying out of Wichita, Kansas is a bit more limited in selections.
