My fiance finally received his packet 3.. the question is does the DS-156 have to be done online because of the barcode? If so, why did they send this in packet 3 and he says it doesn't mention anything about doing it online.. I hate not being there to just grab it and read it myself!

No, it doesn't have to be done online.

I thought the recommendation from other postings was to fill it in and print it out from on-line so it has the barcode.

I suppose there's no harm in filling in both and having both with you.

The reason I'm questioning this is because his printer is broken and since he can't save it and print it out later, I'd be filling it out, sending it with all the other documents I have to send over to him, which would delay things even more. Maybe it's a bad day, but the constant need for documents, the confusing wording of documents, and the obsessing over this website is getting to me. lol So very thankful I found this site, otherwise I'd be completely clueless..

I've constantly read that it needs to be done online. I second what TimsDaisy said. Better to be safe than sorry. smile.gif

Can he not save it off and then print from a friend's computer?

Or print it at the library? That's what G did when his printer was broken.

Pigu says: they sent me the DS-156 on paper, and i filled it in. It has a box with BARCODE written on it.

He filled out the paper form, didn't sign it, and sent it back. He left the barcode box blank. They processed his papers and scheduled his interview.
