OK!! We have a problem. My husband was traveling here after he got his visa. Someone stole the bag at the airport he had his petition in. Has this happened to anyone else before. We are trying to reach the embassy to see if they can forward another copy of the contents of the envelope to us, as we will need it in the near future. We are very lucky they let him enter the USA. Now we just want to make sure he stays here. We have to go back to the airport in a couple of weeks to prove to them that he is eligible to be admitted into the USA. We desperately need a copy of the petition. We tried talking to the airport in Germany, to see if it has been turned into the lost and found office. So far no luck. Does anyone know how we can obtain another copy of all papers in the envelope the embassy gives you for the point of entry?

thanks so much for any and all advice.

Do you have, at least, a copy of everything that you have ever submitted to USCIS and the embassy? What about NOA1 or NOA2, approval documents, his passport with the visa in it, letters from NVC and the interview letter? At least if you had what was basically in the package if you had copied things before sending them in the post then at least you might be about to show something in the meantime. Hopefully others have had this problem that they might be able to give you more advice. Sorry this happened rose.gif

We still dont have the embassy envelope. It was reported found at the airport in Germany, but when we call they say they dont have anything. I am afraid when he reports for deferred inspection, they will send him back. Has anyone been admitted to the usa without the envelope from the embassy? This has been a disaster. lol.

I would go to your congressman, explain the situation, they will get ahold of the embassy much easier than you can and they have a little pull, and get them to help you!

Embassy's do not keep any copies of your document package, this is according to website for the Embassy in Kiev.

I wish you luck

oh goodness!
this is awful, but really i wouldnt fret!
you ahve your case number right?
i would think that they could just look it up and get you a copy.
its all on thier little computers.

i dont think that its going to be bad.
i dont think they would send him back and make you start over. i think its easier for everyone (including them) to just get a copy from the embassy.

i really think POSITIVE on this one.

Yes, this has happened before; the woman posted with the nickname 'sibsie' (sue google to search--seh posted elsewhere). I seem to recall it recently happened again.. maybe a search for sibsie's nickname will help.

The envelope is a one-off copy of everything from the immigration file. The Embassy are the only folk who can help you put it back together. I am not sure what they'll do with him at deferred inspection, but I don't think they'll be sending him back.

Who told you that it was reported found at the airport? Did you document the name of the person who you talked to that told you that it was reported found? Also the date and time that you called and received this news? I would just so that at least you have SOMETHING to give to the customs officer. And keep hassling the airport - this isn't something that they should be waffling around about. Maybe one of your hubby's family members can go to that airport and get the information in person - just a last minute thought. Good luck though!
