Just wondering if anyone had filed a P85. I filed a couple of months ago and was wondering if they keep it on file til the end of the UK tax year or deal with it fairly promptly. Any one else filed one of these?

It took about 10 weeks for me to hear back from them... I think there is a number in the UK where you can phone... check the website.

I heard from them after a few weeks, but only because they sent my P45 back to my parent's address & then sent me a letter saying they needed it to enable them to make any repayment which may be due.
I don't know what went wrong, but my Mum forwarded my P45 to them & I pretty much forgot about it.
However, last week I received my 8GBP tax refund. WOOO! Only took 4 months total... tongue.gif

You only received £8 refund? Or is that a typo? smile.gif I'm thinking of using a service like www.taxrebateservices.co.uk when we move at the end of the year - I've heard you can often receive close to £1,000 GBP refund.

It depends when in the tax year you move and whether you were a high tax band payer as to how much you get back. If you move here the first week in April then you are unlikely to get even 8pounds!

Thanks for the comment. I should be due quite a lot I think. We'll be leaving in January if all goes as planned and at that point I will have paid about £3,700 GBP for tax and national insurance in the 2007/08 tax year.
