Do the consulates here also use DHL to transfer files between them? Typically how long does it take for a package to go from Montreal to Vancouver
My transfer to Vancouver was granted on January 24th but Vancouver still doesn't have the hardcopy yet. I can only think that Montreal sat on it for a few days before sending it out. Just trying to figure out when it'll actually arrive there. Montreal said on January 31, "It was transferred last week, contact Vancouver". I'm tempted to email Montreal back and ask exactly what day they sent the file out.
Just getting worried here...

Called Montreal. They say they mailed the hardcopy on January 24th BY REGULAR MAIL. Are they insane? Everyone knows that Canada Post sucks. Why would they put embassy papers in regular mail? At least xpress post would be safer.
ARGH!
On the chance that it, you know, never arrives there, what should I do? Keep badgering Vancouver to send me packet 3? Get my husband (the USC) to call them?

Don't get ahead of yourself!
If it doesn't show up, cross that bridge then.
But it'll show up.

Thanks Cass.

I know I'm just getting paranoid about everything. We all know how crappy Canada Post is, why would they send it by regular mail?
I'm going to get my husband to call them on Friday to ask if it showed up and and request P3 to be sent out to me. They already said they wouldn't send out P3 until they received the hardcopy but who knows, maybe they'll say yes to him since he's the USC? Won't hurt to ask...

Hi Misa - I just took a look at your timeline and I see your packet 3 is finally on its way from Vancouver! Congrats. Any idea when we should be expecting interview dates? I still haven't received my P3 but I'm just looking ahead. Keep us posted as you move forward!

Yup! P3 was mailed out yesterday (yippee!). On the checklist you can request a date and from what I've seen, they actually do try and accommodate you. Upon receipt of the checklist and your DS-230 (which you fax in), they send out P4 with your interview date about a week later.

Holy crap Misa... Vancouver is way faster. I am going to try to catch my stuff at NVC before they send it to Montreal and try to switch to Vancouver. Here's hoping. Good luck and keep us posted on how Vancouver is treating you.
thanks Monica

Vancouver will only transfer if you have a reason for it to transfer out there. For me, it's because I'm working out of our Vancouver branch office for a little while...
You'll need an address out west to be able to do it. There was someone here who didn't need to but I needed to and so did others.
It took a lot of back and forth between the two consulates (Montreal wasn't helpful and they provided me with some misinformation...), but it was finally transferred.
