All good things to start thinking on. I know myself I have 4 suitcases, and I find it annoying to find room for them. I think getting one of the gift card Visa/Mastercards for the POE is a great idea! Donnot have to worry about exchanging money (lossing some in the process) and carrying cash around. Some airport infamous for theft.About the closet space, well my husband's arrival is ways off, but I *hope* by then to get a larger apartment.

They don't like the fight thread. sad.gif They wanna keep fighting here instead. Please report these interruptions. They wouldn't hesitate to report you.

Unfortunately there's no way to report 'delusions of grandeur' otherwise I would have reported you long ago. However, since you've never done anything reportable, IMO per TOS, I've never reported you. And certainly Okie hasn't done anything reportable. I didn't realize responding to posts is reportable, let alone 'interrupting szsz's fun'...that's a good one, though.

But carry on with your dramatic posts that are supposedly above it all.

The one thing my husband did (not in his welcome package) was to get me a prepaid cellphone card.
I didn't need a cellphone cause I brought my own, but with the prepaid card we could be in touch anytime.

Insha'allah, we'll be moving (back) to Potomac shortly after he comes. Lots of closet space there!

Do have them watch the weight of the suitcases, i saw many both coming and going having to repack while standing right there in line. He seems to think he can bring everything he always wanted to have here at one time, i told him best to divide it out into things for (right now) mail some on ahead, or leave for family to follow up on little at a time.

Some can do it by just leaving a room.

check the airlines website for baggage allowance. there should be a list detailing quantity of bags (mixture of checked/ carry-on) and weight & dimensions per bag. if you are close to the weight, print out a copy of the page to prevent a ticket agent from "accidentally" overcharging for excess weight.

I dont belive chicken is meat because of my religous belifes. I am allergic to fish on fish fridays

That can be really confusing. I know some people who say they are vegetarian but they eat chicken, fish, seafood. I don't really consider that to be a vegetarian but differnt strokes for different folks I guess.

In Islam, the rulings about it are varied, there is actually very little that pertains to women, and little that deals with separated couples. Just as Henia's dilemma about separation for more than 4 months resulting in divorce, it is necessary to examine the context under which the act occurs. Many scholars agree that in marriage, intercourse is primary, but they do allow for the act to prevent zina. Whether it's done alone or in a facilitated manner with your spouse, it is being done in the context of married, but temporarily separated, and that is the domain of the couple, not the scholars, being that they are being satisfied in a manner that does not require a third party and adultary.

I can't tell you how many times I've met clients who said they were vegetarian but ate fish, and chicken. blink.gif huh??
They really need to look in the dictionary to find the definition of a vegetarian.

As far as chicken not being meat... I just looked up the definition of "meat" and half said chicken is meat, half said it isn't. Whatever. wink.gif Come on dictionaries of the world, lets get this straight! ha

There are different types of vegetarian.. there is Lacto-ovo vegetarian, pisco-ovo-lacto vegetarian, and vegan. I think some of it depends on why you are a vegetarian. If you have an objection to eating muscular tissue, then you tend to either be lacto-ovo or vegan, and if you are just into occasional meatr eating you may choose pisco-lacto-ovo. But you don't really include chicken in this, although pisco will sometimes go chicken. I don't eat meat when I am left alone, but I will build up my tolerance before i go to Jordan by a few weeks going pisco and then occasional chicken. I just dislike raw meat in addition to the whole non-working gall bladder... so... I have a non-typical reason for it. I don't give a flying leap what my Dh eats smile.gif I'm not all into protecting my pans from meat or anything! I just do better health wise without it since it really does a number on my digestive tract.

i am well aware of the differences in vegetarians. its hard to explain the kinds of people iw ork for. airhead billionaires who hear from some lady who lunches about being a vegetarian,. or going raw, or...whatever. they know nothing about it. "oh umm yeah so we're vegetarian now." anyway.....................

thats good you don't mind your husband eats meat when you do not. that would be really hard on a relationship i would think. not wanting it in your house when he loves it. luckily my fiance and i are both fish/salad eaters. kicking.gif

LOL! I can just imagine. "Today? We;re going raw! Make somehting else! It would try my last nerve I think? I'd be all "no, you're confusing today with tomorrow. Or perhaps you're confusing this meal with the one you're about to fix for yourself." Ahhh. this is part of the reason I wrinkled my forehead when my Dh said he wanted a restaurant. I';m about customer-serviced out!

It would be crazy on the relationship I think? He really loves chicken. but, then again, he is refusing to eat chicken here because all we have is chicken-fed-chicken from the local tyson plants, including all 6 by my house. So I think we'll be having a decent ammount of fish and also ground beef from the mosque and chicken franks! Ohhh he will be sooo excited that he can have all the ground beef he wants since it makes me get hives LOL! blush.gif

Haha exactly. Tonight in fact, my boss asked me to make a particular chicken dish. When I served it he asked me to totally changed it around (but it was exactly what he had asked for) Sometimes I swear I want to throw my apron off and tell them to finish the meal themselves then! (with a few swear words in there for good measure) and storm out! I almost did that on my last job. I want a restaurant as well...someday soon I hope! I think I could deal with the crazy customers here and there if I were doing my own cuisine. We'lll see. wink.gif

I could deal if I was the one in the kitchen.. but my Dh wants to open one with Arabian cuisine (there is only one in the whole northern part of this state and it's open from 11.30am-2pm, Mon-Fri?! INsane!) and he is the cook. he's actually an excellent cook. But that leaves me to be the server basically. The server who hates people... LOL. He insists he just wants the two of us to work there which I think is kinda nuts? but I have never worked in the food industry before. Just knowing customer serive I would think one of the smallest place needs at least 3 people working for a short period of hours, and really at least 6 for 2 shifts. There was a restaurant here that just had 2 people working it and they just closed-- I don't think they could ever keep people happy. They were incredibly slow.

They are pretty much the same thing depending on how you like your coffee. The turkish coffee, which we don't refer to as turkish lol, is just finely groud coffee mixed in boiled water and sugar if you like. In Jordan, most people add cardomen to it. Gahweh sada, is the same pretty much but no sugar is added and it has more cardomen which makes it have a bitter taste. The major difference is how it is served. Gahweh sada is generally only for occasions, holidays, weddings, deaths, etc and it is served in small portions.

I'm guess you don't like it...lol laughing.gif

It's easy shon. Its pretty much the same thing. You can either put the loose tea in water or in a tea ball. Loose tea just tastes better to me, I don't know why. The more importing would be the kind of tea, but I'm pretty sure they use black tea in pakistan for the most part.
brnidokiegurl
I was the same for the tea whistling.gif but per (his) instructions make the water hot in something else, take the little teapot, add couple spoons of the loose tea, add the very hot water, let it sit for few minutes, then your hold the teapot up high and pour, then pour that back into the pot and pour again. From what ive watched the higher you hold it up the better it becomes. (this is little jokeing but mostly true ha) and he prides himself with the tea, so im sure that will become his job. For the coffee, he actually liked the McDonalds coffee.

YOu can find loose tea usually int he grocery store - look next time. You might not have noticed sinc eyou always use bags. A really good tea for any pakistani is Djarling....yummy. The tea ball can be found at any home supply area like at target. You can buy one that has a little chain to hang ont he sig of the mug or pot or one with a handle.
jordanianprincess
The way we make our tea at home is we have 2 tea pots and one sits on top of the other. You boil water in the large pot that is on the bottom and in the small pot on top there is loose tea and water to cover the tea. Once the water boils, you add some of the water to the small pot with the loose tea.

To serve it, you add some of the tea (to your taste, some people like it heavier than others) and then fill the rest of the glass with water. I generally do 1 part tea, 3 parts water. People add sugar to their taste and you can also serve mint sprints on the side. That would be too hard for taking to the airport, but I'm guessing after that trip, he would be happy just to have some nice hot caffine, LOL

One thing some of you girls may want to do, which is something I am planning as well when the day finally comes wacko.gif. I know that after all that traveling the very first thing he is going to want is a cup of arabic coffee. I plan on bringing some with me in a thermos. If you don't have arabic coffee or can't get it, I'm sure he would also appreciate hot tea. good.gif

are you talking about the nasty nasty coffee or the turkish coffee?? Have I ever told my story about the nasty nasty coffee??? omg..I'll have to tell it one of these days.....ugggggggggg

I'm guess you don't like it...lol laughing.gif

the Gahweh sada is the nasty nasty nasty coffee I was speaking of. Turkish coffee (to me) is the good stuff with sugar, kind of like cappuccino. There is a reason they serve the Gahweh sada in small portions....its coz nobody can handle any more than that!! Noor just laughs and laughs when I talk about the nasty nasty coffee.. his whole family even refers to it as "the nasty nasty coffee" ever since the day I went there and was served it for the first time....Yeah, I got to Jordan...slept a bit and then it was time to meet the family.. we go there and they offer me about a teaspoonful of this stuff in a teeny tiny cup that had a similar look as tea. Noor said drink this..you show respect by drinking it... So, I drink it. It was horrible! I handed the tiny cup back to them, being very proud of fulfilling my duty of respecting them (also growing hair on my chest from that horrid liquid)..and they GIVE ME ANOTHER CUP FULL!!! blink.gif I drink it with a half smile on my face and give the cup back to them...they are all so happy and smiling about this. I think the torture is over with and I can move on with my life when..BAM, YES, ANOTHER CUP OF NASTY NASTY LIQUID helpsmilie.gif ... I said, through a clinched grin, Noor....I dont like it..I don't want anymore...he just laughed and after I drank it he said..now, shake the cup...this tells them you're done and they won't give you any more. I just looked at him and shook my head (and the cup)... EVERY HOUSE WE WENT TO...we had to drink the nasty nasty coffee.. thank god he told me early on to shake the cup..I got really good at it afte the first day......ugggg wacko.gif

my husband is a little fussy about tea. but, I cant figure out why he dont like tea bag tea. I dont know how to make tea any other way but, drop the tea bag in some hot water.

It's easy shon. Its pretty much the same thing. You can either put the loose tea in water or in a tea ball. Loose tea just tastes better to me, I don't know why. The more importing would be the kind of tea, but I'm pretty sure they use black tea in pakistan for the most part.

where do I get loose tea? and a real tea baller...
I do drink imported tea " PG tips" which is stronger than " old lipton".

YOu can find loose tea usually int he grocery store - look next time. You might not have noticed sinc eyou always use bags. A really good tea for any pakistani is Djarling....yummy. The tea ball can be found at any home supply area like at target. You can buy one that has a little chain to hang ont he sig of the mug or pot or one with a handle.

ok I will check it out tomorrow.. smile.gif thanks for the information! wow

I know I learned to make tea in karachi and still to this day love it. I take half milk and half water (i prefer skim milk) and bring to a boil. Add the tea and let it steep. Add sugar to each cup as desired by the drinker. It's better than adding milk or cream to the tea like you would add to coffee.

Shon are there any indian or international stores in your area? They will have it for sure. If you cant find a tea ball, then you can just use a sieve when pouring the tea. I would stock up on this stuff before he comes.

I have found some indian stores, arabic stores, moroccan stores. I will go to one of those stores and get the tea. problem is its proble in arabic. < I will bring a friend to translate >.
