The rush was because the judge was trying to find any excuse to mot allow us to marry in the first place and we were down to the wire by the time our newly-hired attorney was able to convince him that if the US Embassy had validated my divorce ( a requirement), then why wouldn't he accept their word, if not my divorce decree. We did have a honeymoon in May this year.

I've never been divorced and I didn't have a divorce decree. I had a death decree. That was a typo I didn't catch. The rest is true.

It's quite a typo to go from "the death certificate of my former husband" to "my divorce decree."

Yes that is quite a typo laughing.gif

Babybunny-- sorry since I'm not up on everyone's religious preferences yet..

But I would choose the chocolate chip! i made them for my husband and he LOVED them. if your SO is Muslim and you want to keep it halal, just buy vanilla powder or non-alcoholic vanilla when you make the recipe! Chocolate chip is best made by scratch, buuuuut PB is great if you buy the pilsbury one and then add some extra crunchy peanut butter to the dough! So I think you could do both!! Sugar cookies are also good from the pre-done dough.

You could make a cake? And write something cute on top?

AND! OMG! You could have a cuuute dinner with candles and non-alcoholic wine (sparkling juice) if you're keeping halal, but I think I'd do that on day 2!

As far as what else in the basket? Depends on what kind of signals you want to send! Rahma has good ideas! Or you could put in some of his favorite snacks or candy, or maybe you could do some fruit.. what about an itenerary for the week? Or the next couple days at least? Maybe some redemable massage tickets (for him from you) or something cute and private like that?

This was a nice thread before you guys decided to derail it. I'll go back to the topic. You can continue to judge me in ways you don't like to be judged. I'm your nonchalant target for the evening, and on.

Have fun!

I'm not going to belabor this, JP. I have no reason to lie about that. I make a lot of typos. I've also made many posts about my first husband's death. So, take it as you will. Do I care? No, I don't.

There is no reason to lie about anything. The bottom line is if someone is Southern, so are you. If someone is Native American, so are you. If someone is Moroccan, so are you. If someone is Palistinian, so are you. Time and time again you have changed your story and now people are catching on. You change things to make them work in your favor, as proven.

For awhile, i was using real vanilla beans in my cooking. While it taste great, it's a bit expensive. We just recently got little packets of vanilla sugar from the local ME groccery store. The cookies that are sitting on the stove cooling at this moment are really really tasty.

even if there was alcohol in the vanilla - it cooks out. huh.gif I thought so anyways.

Some hanafis allow for cooking with vanilla extract, but I believe all other madhabs are against it. Not all the alcohol cooks out, unfortunately, and I believe the general reasoning is that whatever touches the alcohol is impure, so it basically pollutes the dough.

Vanilla extract is made by soaking vanilla beans in alcohol, which absorbs it's flavor.

You know you can also (and this is an FYI for those who don't know smile.gif ) find a lot of non-alcoholic vanilla products (like the powders) at the Mexican and other South/Central American markets! Here, there are basically no other types of markets except the regular chains like Walmart and the occasional hispanic market. So for those who live in small areas like mine and are trying to piece together something halal for yourself or your SO (like me, I'm Christian but my Dh is Muslim so I've been scoping out the halal possibilities especially since I'm vegetarian and didn't even know much about the meat situations in general LOL.. and I don't drink... so?), it's a nice tip to know!

Baby Bunny-- I;ve found a lot of times if I bring something to his family or him, they have a liking to caramel!!! It;s apparantly not common in his area of Jordan and it really is a taste they like. Caramellos and any similar caramel-filled chocolate seemed to be the best thing ever! LOL! I also brough homemade fudge (without nuts) and that seemed to be an instant hit as well. Marshmallow creme is halal even though marshmallows are not.

LOL, you'll fit right in here. Every few months, we go through the things that are halal and what not.

Something to look into - ice cream. Some contain gelatin. Edy's doesn't, except the stuff with marshmallows.

Also, yogurt. Look for stuff with no gelatin or kosher gelatin.

Heart-shaped cookie cutters is a great idea! I sent my Dh a box of cookies for.. well.. just because. But it happened to coincide with Ramadan. Everyone was all lecturing me on wehat was and was not traditional, but that had NOTHING to do with what I was doing! i was just sending him cookies because I'm a silly American girl like that. So anyway, I made him 6 kids of cookies-- Oatmeal (some with and without raisens), Sugar, Chocolate chip, peanut butter, Shortbread, and Spritz (cookie press butter cookies). I colored the spritz dough and cut it myself. I colored it green and cut that into crecent moons, red and cut those into hearts, and blue and cut those into stars.

It's so funny that you think I'm trying to make you unhappy. I guess you don't like it when someone points out what a hypocrite you are. You can ignore it if you want but it won't change the fact that what was highly suspected of you by many has now been confirmed. By the way you can't retract something that CLEARLY was not a typo. Satin sheets? with the low lights good.gif

Satin is good, but hard to sweat on (don't ask me how I know this). I prefer 600 count Egyptian cotton sheet made in Switzerland. They are the best and like sleeping in heaven.

I made a double batch, and I think I may have gotten 30 cookies out of it laughing.gif

I'm not sure if jordanian hanafis hold to that. I read the ruling from a pakistani sheikh. I think that subcontinent hanafis tend to differ from hanafis in the rest of the world.

LOL! Yeah I think normally I get about 15 cookies out of one batch smile.gif

Jordanian Hanafis are all a bit different depending on if they are really following the hanafi or.. hmmm.. I can't remember the guy's name now.. but anyway. It's a difference in some things like can you touch your wife/husband after wudu before prayer, etc. The other guy is stricter on some of those issues. Like I know my Dh follows the straight hanafi... but then again he's Jordanian and this whole vanilla extract kind of issue isn't an issue there! So he has no idea about some of this stuff, which is why i just go with the safer than sorrier kind of attitude and don't even bring it up to him. I only asked him a few questions, like is he OK with shellfish and crustaceans. he's so funny, he was like "don't worry about it until i come!" and I was thinking, what are you going to eat when you come then?! LOL! And it's a good thing I started early, because it's taken me a few MONTHS to piece together sources for this and that. When you live in ARKANSAS it gets hard to piece together even a kosher diet! There is ONE butcher in the entire metroplex (including the chains like walmart-- which this is where WM is based and you;d think they'd be nicer here? but no!) who sells lamb, and he has it TOUCHING the pork LOL! So that was kinda out of the question!

Babybunny!! 737 cookies would be cuuute! It's all "welcome home!" Yes! Maybe that and hearts? "welcome home" with "love"? smile.gif

That doesn't surprise me at all!

Ok, great :thumb: Nothing you can post will make me unhappy. My friends don't mind, and my detractors don't matter. Nothing has changed.

Divorce decree....Death Certificate...hmmm not similar at all. I divorced my husband, My husband passed away...not similar.

It's a good thing you're not a lawyer. You're case would be thrown out of court for thin evidence. You don't even have evidence that anything you have said bothers me.

Some of you don't like me, and think I'm a hypocrite. I got that long ago. I don't care if you don't like me and think I'm a hypocrite, you get that. Because I have a life, I don't bother to like or dislike most people here, and if I think some of you are hypocrites, you don't care.

I haven't been collecting anything most of you have posted to use it against you, so reciprocation isn't coming. That's your thing. What has changed? Nothing.

I think I've summed it up.

I need help with the meal for the first day he arrives..coz, I want to work the day he arrives.
before you freak. I work 4am til noon. I figure allow him plenty of rest. when he is well rested my shift is long since over. what can I have for him to eat before I run out the door. btw, he should arrive around mid night roughly.

that should give me < 2 hours > for filling in the blanks..

Eat in bed! Finger foods to have in bed are seductive. Sliced apples and oranges, nuts, chocolate covered strawberries, etc. can be consumed and incorporated into your fun.

well for starters... He's MENA-- so I am assuming you need meat in this meal? LOL! What kind is his favorite? Do you have a kosher or halal source?

Not trying to bother you, just showing how much of a hypocrite you are. Surely there are many hypocrites but none that take the time to point it out so relentlessly day after day like you. Your posts speak for themselves and it was not a typo which has become quite clear to many.

It not about the fact that you are a hypocrite, its the fact that you consistently call others hypocrites while attending the church of self righteousness, get over yourself and everyone else will too.

Really? You collect nothing? Only PM's that were sent to you over 8 months ago? But yeah thats nothing and ofcouse you never used it to your advantage.
