Amie&David
Can anybody give any insight on how to go about working in the shortest amount of time once in the states.

Amie seems to think getting married ASAP and finding somewhere to get marriage cert in a few days is quickest way to get the permit i.e Vegas stylee (if they give cert straight away even). I am not flying through JFK so the EAD is out. Don't want to be out of work for much longer than 3 months if possible.

Any ideas anybody blink.gif

All you can do is apply for AOS with EAD as soon as possible, and then you will receive the EAD within 90 days (well, you should anyway). I got mine in about 70ish days, and that was with an RFE as well, so hopefully you shouldn't have too much of a wait.

You should plan on waiting a full 90 days after filing the EAD before you get it. If it comes sooner then you'll just be happier.

Where are you moving too? The economic outlook in the area you are moving to has a lot more to do with finding work than getting your EAD.

It took my husband nearly 9 months to find gainful employment. Plan a realistic timeline and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Remember you are starting a new life. Cut yourself some slack.

I agree with Rebeccajo, don't let yourself become trapped with the *I must get a job symdrone* I know from experience that the right job will come along and you will be more satisfied with waiting.
