did you see any denials?

I can’t help you with info direct (we’re going through Chennai, and no interview yet), but have you checked out “Embassy Info” (on links above), then “India” then “Feedback & Ratings for Delhi, India”. That has some info from people who have been through the interview in Delhi. Good luck! good.gif

Hi

my husband had his interview at delhi on jan 12th
he said that they were cordial
he didnt feel uncomfortable
normal questions ........ nothing tricky or unexpected
how did oyu meet your wife
whats her parents names
where do you plan to live
how old is she

we didnt get the visa yet
we received a 221g at the window
this is what you get when you are missing something
believe me - we werent missing anything
we have been together for over a year, had tons of phone calls, travels with passport stamps, photos, etc
i lived in his house from may-dec - passport shows my stay.

but the counselor said he needed to look through the papers more
so he gave us a 221g
on the 221g he requested a list of persons not related to us at the wedding (30)
so we had to collect that, along with thier voters id card.
we submitted that exactly 2 weeks ago today.
still waiting......any day now we should hear.

my husband said about 4 people went before him and they got the same paper he did. he doesnt know what they were missing or requested to submit.

I wouldnt be worried about the actual interview.
maybe practice questions to make your spouse comfortable with experiencing answering questions

one thing tho - on the papers and on the ewbsite it says you are not allowed to be at the interview. However the interviewer asked my husband if i was there with him. I wish i would have been! so if i were you i would go call the embassy and ask about it. if you are allowed to go then go. i would even go and just sit out side and wait. so if the counselor asks if you are there your jsut outside and can come inside immediately.

i wish you luck.

I couldn't find the experience Sujeet had typed out after his interview. It was on VJ but on the old server that got redone a year ago so it's gone, but I thought I had saved it as a word doc on my computer or emailed it to myself. If I find it I will post it.

The interview occurred on July 22nd, 2004, so it's been awhile.

We are a mixed couple, but my husband's interview(fiance at that time) went very well. There was a lot of standing in different lines before the actual interview took place. The interviewer was a young white guy, who seemed pretty nice and asked Sujeet about my family and about me, and looked at the pictures Sujeet brought of us together, which also had some pics of my family. The interviewer asked who ppl were in the pictures.

Like I said, I hope I can find the experience Sujeet had written out.

Not even sure about Chennai (whether it allows USC to attend K-1 interview or not).

Any advice on the following for DELHI:

1. where and how to get the police certificates from the district station and passport office
2. what is the specific request that i should make to these departments to obtain the document
3. rough idea of what the documents will basically say?

Many thanks.

1) From the district station, it would be your local 'thana' or county station. For the passport, by default they take 3 months to send it and YOU MUST be a resident of your place for at least a year otherwise they charge. For me though, I had contacts in the passport office so I didn't have a problem, got it in a few days.

2) Tell them you need a document stating that you have committed no crimes and are not in any way shape or form liable to India, or something like that.

3) Umm... I'd have to look, pm me if you want to know.

As for the OP, yes I went through Delhi. The experience itself was all ready. Waited for an hour then the interview came. Asked me really obvious and simple questions, probably 5. All he had asked to see was photographs of us. That's about it. I also got a 221(g) and now I'm fighting my case to appeal it, I'm not going to stand back and watch these illiterate dicks tell me that I cannot be with Mandi smile.gif.

You just as for a “Police Clearance Certificate”. The passport office in Visakhapatnam gave my guy a form to fill out, and kept his passport. He returned the next day evening and his passport was returned and they gave him the PCC which was a standard form with his info typed in blank spaces (one could tell they give a lot of PCCs out!).

The village police station gave the certificate immediately and it was all typed out by hand (no standardized form).

The PCC issued by the Visakhapatnam Passport office said:

Govt of India Ministry of External Affairs Passport Office (address etc)
Police Clearance Certificate

There is no adverse information against (name) son of (name) holder of Indian Passport No -- issued at -- on -- which would render him/her ineligible for the grant of travel facilities including visa for United States of America.

Passport Officer
(Signature, Address & Stamp)

The letter issued from the local police station said:

“This is to certify that -- son of -- aged --, address -- who has not been involved in any criminal case so far and no adverse report was received against him as per the records of --Police Station. His conduct and character are satisfactory to the best of my knowledge.

Station house officer

I am really not sure. But just go to Passport office in Delhi and enquire if they will give it. And also try sending an email to Delhi Consulate and see what they answer.

<<how did u put the indian flag below your countrys name>>

The flags now come automatically if you put the country name in properly! Yours doesn't show up because instead of putting "India", you put "New Delhi, India". See Ewok's announcement (it is at the top of every forum including South Asia forum, "Announcement: New Country Flags").

To get your flag, go to "My Controls," go to the bottom where it says "Country of non-US Fiance / Spouse / Family Member Country " and choose "India" from the drop-down list. The flag will now be automatically there when you post anything. yes.gif good.gif
