I'm not sure I could even begin to list it all... but here's an attempt in categories:
Arabic pop
Arabic classical music (Farid al Atrache, Om Kalthoum, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, etc)
Remixes of Arabic music
Nancy Ajram, Khaled, Elissa, Ruby, Sherine, Amr Diab, Hasna, Chebs - many of them!, the list goes on
Arabic drumbeats
Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Blackeyed Peas, The Cure, Gorillaz and others
some R&B, funk
My playlists mostly consist of dance sets for restaurants, classes, weddings as well as Arabic & French lessons
A few books downloaded from I-tunes
A few random podcasts
all in all..... when I'm trying to express something in class by showing my students something to an arabic piece, then I want to show them the same thing to an american piece - I'm at a loss b/c there's so little american music on it! blush.gif

Did I mention that I absolutely love the orchestral pieces used in Egyptian classic dance??

Noura...My belly dance instructor used Akon's Bananza (Belly Dancer) for our freestyle dancing at the end of the class. It's a fun song.

It's really great for traveling, you can buy an adapter which will download your photos from your camera once the memory card gets full.

I can't live without mine. I found a place that will install software and a connector to my navigation system so that I can listen to my Ipod in the car and use my screen to navigate through the songs! kicking.gif

I looove my IPod. I got it for Christmas of 2005, which was right after the video ones came out. I haven't downloaded too many videos yet because it just takes too long, but I love my music! I have several playlists of different types of music.

One is my workout playlist: Black Eyed Peas, DMX, Usher, Daniel Bedingfield, Alien Ant Farm, Live, Shakira, and several others make up that list.

Another is my melancholy playlist. It's full of songs that I play when I'm feeling sappy or sad. It has: Against All Odds (Phill Collins), Nothing Compares 2 U (Sinead O'Connor), Smooth Operator (Sade), Fade in to You (Mazzy Star), When You Say Nothing at All (Allison Krauss), Let Go (Frou Frou) and many others.

Then, I have a Salsa/Rai mix CD, an African-Latin CD that would be perfect for salsa dancing, some Algerian music, a bunch of French pop songs, Dave Matthews Band, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Jump, Keane...the list goes on.

I really love love love my Ipod, but wish Itunes had a better selection. Sometimes I seem to have a hard time finding the songs I want to download.

I have a 6 gig ipod that I bought myself for my trip to Egypt. I actually don't have any MENA music on it but would be happy for suggestions, links, etc.
In general I tend to go for upbeat kind of music but I don't mind slow or sad stuff.

Also, my favorite reciter of quran is Abdul Rahman Alsudais (I think that's his name). Here's a link to some of his recitations on IslamWay. quran
I need to find a cd that has him reciting the whole quran on it. I don't know if I have the space to hold it all on my ipod though.
