I want to get Craigory something to carry around with him to help with the metric to imperial conversion when he gets here in two weeks...any idea where I can buy something like that? I guess just chart would work, but it would be really nice to find a calculator that does the conversions for you.

Thanks!

I have seen them at Walmart here in Canada.. In where the school supply stuff is.. On an end of the aise.. they are laminated charts that are "cheat sheets" for everything from conversion to Excel Formulas. You might try an Office Supply store or a hardware store for the conversion calculators. Pretty common in the construction industry.

Well, you could give him a couple of useful links:

And for everything else under the sun:

Just a suggestion. But I'm old enough to have been in the elementary school system when the changeover occurred over to metric! One thing I have always remembered, is that it was a decision at our school, that "conversion" was NOT the way to go. Re-learning the NEW way was.

Again, over the years, I've heard lots of little tricks to mentally calculate temperatures, and weights, but I found the best way was just to start using the US system. You'd be surprised how easy it is not to convert!

Just my 2 cents worth!

Just in the 5 years that I've been with Gene, I've learned this! When I do talk to other Canadians, or I'm writing about our weather, I do use the links that JerseyGirl supplied...it's actually funny that I'm using the tools though to calculate so that I can talk to my fellow Canadians!
