I noticed the Pregnancy thread was locked ..so i decided to post and tell this
Iam a doctor so I know that when we calculate in Obstetric the due date and GA we always use the "first day of menstural period "..that's why always in you first visit the Clinic the nurse wll ask you when was the first day of your last menstrural period...which is usually about 14 days before "conception which usually around ovulation" ..why we use that because we can't ask a woman about which time she had sex with her husband is the one that was LUCKY to make her pregnant so we ask about the first day of the last menstural period using certain equation to know the due date and GA..
I hope that made things clearer ...Salwa
kerewin21

one of the tips my OB gave me when I wanted to start trying to get pregnant was know when I was ovulating. He told me to go buy an ovulating test kit. He told me to start testing on the 11th day from the first day of my period. So the first day of your period will count as the 1st day and so on. Start taking prenatal vitamins before you start trying also. Oh and keep a record of your monthly period.

I don't know if this is true or not but I got pregnant both times in July when I was on vacation, so I would suggest plenty of sunshine and relaxation!

My ex-father in law used to tell my husband to do it during a full moon if we wanted a boy too but I don't think that's a medical certainty. whistling.gif

My ex said our child would be a boy, but it was a girl blink.gif
Mrs. Forgetful
Right now, we don't care if it's a boy or a girl. We just wanna get pregnant. And I am sure even after we come back from Morocco, we are still going to have quite a while before that happens. Hopefully I am wrong and we will get pregnant while we are in Morocco. That would be funny! laughing.gif We would be coming home with a nice souvenier! laughing.gif

Didnt mean "actual call" in a manner of speaking, but his participation whistling.gif is what determined it

Be in optimal health (healthy weight, etc), take folic acid (a good pre-natal vitamin), lots of Omega-3s (eat fish and/or take flax seed oil) and have lots of sex!
Heartland
I really like this site, it has a cycle tracker that shows just about when you ovulate. http://p223.ezboard.com/bconceptionstore

My husband and I used the clear blue easy fertility monitor that i bought off ebay. Not the sticks, this thing tells you when you start to surge (LH).

Primrose oil, folic acid, and a baby asprin is what I was told to try before I got pregnant...

Good luck to all that are trying!

Congratulations to Salwa and Mark... I tried to send you a message. I know Danielle was to set up a time where we all went out to lunch. I really hope we can do that.

ok, i have a question to all you nurses and doctors out there.... this may be a stupid question but i have to ask anyway... here goes
if a woman has had her tubes tied for about 8 years.... is it dangerous to get a reversal and try to get pregnant since the tubes have been tied off and unused for so long?... any input here is appreciated...

Not a stupid question. The problem isn't the amount of time and that the tubes have been unused. The problem is the scar tissue that has developed and may cause a problem if you try to sew the tubes back together. Sometimes it works, but you're at higher risk for an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy outside the uterus, usually in one of the tubes, because the embryo can get kind of stuck on the scarred tissue and implant there instead of inside the uterus). Still the risk isn't all that high, though, and this kind of pregnancy can happen to anyone, not just those who have had their tubes tied/untied.

In many ways it is more advisable to go for IVF (but that can be stressful in itself because you have to take hormones, get sonograms to look at your eggs, have a procedure to harvest your eggs, and then undergo implantation). IVF is more likely to be successful, especially if you haven't had problems with fertility in the past and you're on the younger side.

I'm not a dr or a nurse nor do I play one on tv but if you wanna, join here http://www.tubal-reversal.net/cgi-bin/ulti...i?ubb=get_daily , or just lurk and you'll see all the success they have! good.gif There is a higher risk of ectopics but they track from the minute you find out you are pregnant to make sure that if it is ectopic that they fix it before any tubal damage is done. I am getting mine reversed this summer. Let's do it together!!! Maybe we can get a group rate! jest.gif
appletree352002
doodlebug, can I joing you also I'm thinking about doing the reversal this summer too. good.gif
