Full Version: goin dumb with the I-129F
VisaJourney.com > Marriage Based Immigration (K1, K2, K3, etc) to the USA > K-3 Spouse Visa General Discussion

Hi everyone. I have some quick questions that maybe ya'll can help me with. I'm filling out the I-192F for a K3 visa for my wife. What is the A#? In regards to question B18 ("has your fiance met and seen you within a two-year period immediately receding the filing of this petition"), is "receding" suppose to be "preceding?" If is not, what does it mean? I don't quite get that question. Also with this new PDF file, what happens if the information is more than that fits in the box? I mean if I print it will it only print the first parts I typed in? Lastly, I was just wondering why did I have to wait for the I-130 NOA to arrive before I could send the I-129F, and why do I need to send the I-129F they seem like the same form almost. This are probably dumb questions to most, but I just feel dumb when I fill these things out. Thanks.

Hey there,

1. A# is alien number. Not applicable if your spouse doesn't have one.

2. B18, not applicable for K3. Same for B17. See the instructions:

This form may be used to obtain a K-3 visa for your alienspouse. Fill out the form as directed, except assume that"fiancé" or "fiancé(e)" means "spouse." Answer QuestionsB.17 and B.18 by stating "N/A." Note that filing this formis only necessary to facilitate the entry of your spouse as anonimmigrant.

3. If it doesn't fit the field, then fill in that field by hand (black ink).

4. You need to send in the NOA1 for the I-130 because for K3 petitions you need to show proof that you have an immigrant petition pending because it is assumed that after entry on a K3 you will adjust status (and I think you need the I-130 at that point, but don't quote me on that part).

It's confusing at first, but familarise yourself with the guides and posts here and you'll get the hang of it soon. smile.gif

I agree with misa ... it does appear to be a "daunting" process. Just hang in there, read a lot (then read again) and ask questions on VJ.

I’ll add a little more to #3 … about fields being too small.

“3. If it doesn't fit the field, then fill in that field by hand (black ink).”

My wife’s name and other items did not fit into the spaces provided. So, per the instructions:
2. General Filing Instructions.
B. If extra space is needed to complete any item, attach a continuation sheet, indicate the item number, and date and sign each sheet.

Below is an excerpt from my continuation sheet. I didn’t have any problems with USCIS. I filled in the spaces on the form with all the information. If the data being entered is larger than the space, the form will place a “+” character in the lower right corner of the box/ field (this is an indication to USCIS that the space is too small and there should be a continuation sheet).

I assembled my package with the continuation sheet directly after the I-129f.
