I am just trying to verify the instructions I received for making my payment to the Berlin Embassy before my K1 Visa interview on Feb. 2. On the little orange paper I received in my last packet, it states to transfer the money to the Berlin Embassy and gives me the bank info. It says to get the bank receipt with the banks original stamp on it. OK, I get that.

However, when I went to the Berlin Embassy's website to confirm the dollar/euro exchange rate and that I still need to just pay 85 Euros, I noticed that it says:

Visa Processing Fee and Application Procedures

Persons applying in Germany for a visa to travel to the United States are required to complete an online payment confirmation form in order to obtain a secure receipt for the visa processing fee.

The online payment confirmation procedure is a quick, secure and cost-effective method for visa applicants to demonstrate they have paid the visa processing fee when they visit the Consular Section in Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich for their visa interview.

Now I would really like clarification because if I did not have access to a computer and came across this site, I would NOT have known about this! So again, the consulate is contradictory and wishy-washy.

Can someone please clarify this before I hop myself to the bank and make a payment in a way that is not acceptable by the consulate?

Thank you!

One more thing ... here is the website. I am assuming that K1 Visa applicants don't have to do this but now I am confused. I am already so nervous that I am gonna forget paperwork or have a document missing, and I just don't wanna be confused and do something wrong. crying.gif

I called the embassy since I didn't get an answer on here. If any of you come across the same thing and have the same question - you do not have to register for this online confirmation thing! Just do a simple bank transfer with the banks stamp on the receipt.

Magnolia31, sorry, I didn't see your post earlier. You can do the transfer either way. It doesn't matter as long as you can show them a statemtent that you actually sent the money to the consulate. Good luck.

Although I would be filing for the K3 and not the K1 I assume that the payment procedures would be similar if not the same.

My husband and I were trying to figure out if we would pay using a US Cheque or how that works. I did not see the website that you mentioned about paying for things. (we are also in Germany, although we are in Munich).

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated!
