Yup what Diana said, (mononoke). Not sure about other embassys....I would try to get in contact with VJ members that have already went thru the process at your embassy to shed some light. There might be lots of helpful tips out there. I know i've found plenty.
Jenny,
Hope you get your NOA2 today!

You know, you'd at least like to be hopeful and think that since you're already half a month behind in number of days when compared to the people from last month, things will go faster when it gets to the embassy because they don't have a backlog. But the truth is, when people don't have mountains of work to do, they get really, really slow.

Lenka and Howard,
I thought you got a new (maybe visa) case number at the NVC. Thats the way I understood it anyhow.
Yes, I understand it the same way as you. USCIS has your file under one case number while they have it in their possession. When they are done with that file, they send it over to NVC and NVC assigns you a new number that stays until the consulate stage. But to inquire about the new NVC case number you need the USCIS number (besides the beneficiary name, DOB, etc) - at least that is how I understood it.
But again, I can be wrong...
TracyTN
Apr 30 2007, 05:20 PM
You're right, Len & How. Our case number went from an WAC number to an LDN number (for London) at NVC and for the consulate. I got the LDN number by calling the NVC and giving them our WAC number (plus my fiance's full name, DOB and country of residence).

The NVC is a top notch organization. They turn things around quickly and they are great on the telephone. After we got the NOA2 I waited a little while and called late at night to find out if they had received the approval. It didn't take long and the lady was very nice. She told me the package had been sent to Bogota the day before and she gave me the number.
Based on a lot of VJ info I suspect that CSC saves these approvals for a week or so and mails them together. If the NVC doesn't have it then I am sure that the CSC hasn't sent it.
The cutoff date for the Colombian Embassy is a VJ thing, not of DOS thing. That is based on the date that they post new dates on the web site. If you get your packet 3 returned to them on the day after this date you will be scheduled at the beginning of the following month as opposed to the end of the preceeding one. It is still first come, first served. If you live in Bogota everything moves quickly anyway. You will barely have time to assemble everything in time to make it happen. The packet 3 will most likely arrive before you have assembled everything. If you don't live in Bogota the mail can not be trusted. The embassy knows that and tries to give you time to get the letter for the interview and make travel arrangements.
I would never FAX back the packet 3 if I didn't KNOW that I was going to have everything together. I can not imagine what they would do if you showed up at the interview without the I134, police clearance. DAS certificate, or some other important step

They do. They average 2.9 months processing time for the I-129F, per their own request for public comment issued in connection to their proposed fee increase.

It isn't an adobe file - it's a page from the federal register, a public document. Something that anyone getting sh*t from their congressional offices should copy and send to them with a big red circle saying "LOOK AT THIS, I'm telling you I'm no longer within the real normal processing times," if, in fact, they have exceeded the 2.9 month average.
I think it's partly our responsibility to make it known that we know this data is out here so they can't put us off longer and hope the problem rectifies itself. I appreciate that these offices must handle a tremendous amount of casework, but it isn't my fault congress is currently limited to 435 members while the population keeps increasing. Thems the breaks. Now WORK, offices, and don't assume we're morons who can't read or research!
