i got my approval email in the evening (maybe 8ish?) on the same day I got my only touch.

I've rarely seen someone announce "just received" their NOA2 in the middle of the day. Do you think the updates at the site

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/caseStatu...id=almQ_s_wKrs4

are sent by an automated program in the evening? Has anyone received their NOA2 in the middle of the day?

Is it normal to get touched AFTER being approved? What does that mean? Maybe that they sent it off to NVC already?

And, we got our approval e-mail a quarter after midnight EDT.

Congratulations to all the touches and approvals over the last day or so!

The date listed before yesterday's "touch" was a day after the NOA1 was dated. I'm guessing that once they generate an action, it gets posted in the file and can probably result in something else happening with that date. And the guess that it means it was sent to NVC is probably a good one!

Yes, it is normal. A touch the day after approval happened to me and to lots that I know. People say that it means that CSC has sent your file off, and I think that is a fair assumption. My file was received by NVC a week after that touch. So congrats, you are on the move now!!!

I not only want to cry .. I am just tired of being glued to the uscis website.. and always checking.. its getting me no where and depressed all the time. I have 14 days till I am in Algeria and 13 days till I get on the plane and start travelling and all of this makes me so sad and burned out. wahrania, girl, you're even depressing me now! i know you're freaked out, but it seems like you should reallllly take a break from checking the USCIS site all the time. i know that might sound like backwards advice, but you need to give yourself a break from worrying about this stuff, it isn't healthy all the time. i do my fair share of freaking out too, believe me, but i also sometimes rent a good movie or go out to eat or just do SOMETHING that isn't stewing-over-the-NOA2. as you've seen, touches mean someone is touching your file, but no more and no less than that until you hear about definite action.

It's a change in the "last updated" field in your USCIS online account portfolio. It won't generate an email because technically it isn't an action of any kind. A touch doesn't mean you were approved or denied or are getting and RFE. It doesn't mean anything until you, uh, find out what it means.

Some people get a bunch. Some people get none at all. Some don't even get emails and just have an NOA2 show up in their snailmail box.

well, i guess we got 'touched' today then biggrin.gif this is the first time i've checked our status online in over a week (too depressing to see it still say 'pending Jan 22/07). low and behold, the last updated date is today! no email received, but hopefully that means we don't have to wait too much longer to get our NOA2... which would be so good because my fiance has really been getting depressed this week crying.gif i feel the same; i'm trying to stay strong for him, but it's getting very hard.

You must check the USCIS website for a "touch" that does not result in an action. An action that results in a change of status will generate an email. A "touch" only means the petitioner's file was scanned, resulting in a date change. This means someone is looking at your file.

You won't get an email until they actually take an action on your file - approval, denial, or RFE generated. Right now, the date change just means someone is dealing with the paperwork. No outcome until there's an outcome!

And dependant on whether the online system is working properly... it is possible to get the approval e-mail even two weeks after you get the hardcopy approval notice in the mail.... been there, done that.....

Ah yes, of course. The email system works when it does work to notify you unless it doesn't in which case it won't. So take from the online case status what you will or what you won't and know that it does and does not actually indicate any action. Making it about as clear and reliable as anything else in this process.

I wrote Congressmen two weeks ago Tuesday regarding inconsistent processing times and the overall lengthy process of obtaining family-based visas. I didn't (at this time) request for assistance with my own petition specifically - although I did sign all of the information waivers to provide them with any information that may be of assistance (and hey - if they want to help - by all means, get on it). Followed up with an email yesterday because I had not received a response yet. Today I got a letter in the post from my Senator who is up for re-election next year. Posted response he sent me in the USCIS forum.

I have been watching this thread for a while now for a friend that filed late in January. Try not to let this wait get you down. I know it seems like forever but in the grand scheme of things it is nothing. If you look at our timeline we waited a long time for the approval. At the time it seemed like forever. Now that it is all behind it was nothing.
On the bright side, the process moves very quickly after this step.
Try to find some patience in your heart. Think ahead!.
Does your foreign love speak English well? You may want to find ESL classes for them.
Are there children involved? You should talk to the school.
Do you have tax records for the I 134?
Do you know where your local health department is so that you can complete the immunizations?
Do you understand the DS 3025, the I 94, and the I 693A?
When you get the NOA2 it is very important to protect it. Make a lot of copies. If you lose this document it will cost you 200 bucks to get a copy.
Have you read about work authorization? This takes a while and frustrates most people down the line

Here's the Congressman response I got. This will be a bit easier anyways. Not TECHNICALLY a double post, right? whistling.gif

Dear Ms. Tiffany

Thank you for your recent correspondence and for bringing this matter to my attention. The decisions of federal agencies have a direct impace on the lives of many Texans. For that reason, I understand the importance of this issue to you. As your United States Senator, I am happy to offer my assistance.

Accordingly, I have contacted the appropriate officials at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and asked them to provide a response to your concerns. I will write you again as soon as I receive their reply to my inquiry.

I appreciate having the opportunity to represent you in the United States Senate and to be of service in this matter.

Sincerely,

John Cornyn
United States Senator

P.S. Thanks for the much-needed pep talk, Sjoe. Think we're all a bit down lately with CSC dragging their feet!!!
