Hi everyone,
I just discovered about VJ a short time ago, and this is my first post in this forum. I applied for the K-1 visa in January (through an attorney) to the CSC. My NOA-1 has a notice date of Jan 16. From this thread, I see that a lot of people who have applied after me have already gotten their NOA-2's. Should I be starting to get worried? Do you guys think my file is lost somewhere in the CSC?
By the way, this is an awesome site full of good information. You must be hearing this a lot from newcomers, but I wish I had discovered this a lot earlier. :-)
Only about 1/3 of January filers from CSC have NOA2. The average wait time right now is about 81 days with some much longer than that. On the bright side, there seems to be some recent activity suggesting more NOA2's are on the way. Click the link below to see some stats:
Thanks for the info! I will try to be more patient.

I was just wondering if they continue to update our cases on the USCIS website after the NOA2 approval. Do they update it when it arrives at the NVC and when they send it to the embassy?

NO, one of the reasons being is that the USCIS is a part of the Department of Homeland Security and NVC and Consulates are a part of the Department of State.

How do people no when it arrives at NVC and then sent to/received by the embassy/consulate? Do we have to wait till we receive the Packet 3 to know where our file is?

You have to call or email NVC, wait a few days or up to a week before you contact them. It takes a few days for the file to arrive. Sometimes longer. We had a few Dec filers whose files took 3 weeks to get to NVC.
Here is the contact info from the K1 flowchart:
*Two weeks after you receive the NOA2 you can contact the NVC to see if they have received your approved I-129F. You can contact them at 603 334-0700. Their homepage is here. (go to the flow chart and the link is on the word "here") Welcome to the US Department of State! Things move much faster now

.
My file got there in 8 days, and I waited about a week to call NVC the first time (not 2, because I'm too impatient). Once they receive your file, you can get your case number which you'll need to schedule the medical exam. You can also start working on all of the paperwork for packet 3.
edited to add info about embassy/consulate: Once you know that your file has left NVC (you can call NVC and ask when it has been shipped out) then you can contact the embassy/consulate a few days after that. Their contact information is under embassy info or on their websites. Just an FYI: our file got to our consulate so fast that we received Packet 3 before I even had a chance to call or email
Good luck to you all!!!!

Beneficiary needs both. And they need a police cert for each country they have lived in for 6 months or more. You might want to get on that right away because it takes a while for those (police certs) to come in, in some countries

lucho562 - check out the region forum for your particular country - most of them have threads about packet 3 and what's required when/how, all that good stuff, so you can get a jump start collecting documents if you want to.
as for the recent NOA2ers, where's the green-with-envy smiley! happy for you, on pins-and-needles for me! arghhhhhh!!!!!! i don't think my tummy can get any more knotted. please something today, pleasssssssssssse!
hey - here's a question (fwaguy, you probably know), on member timelines, when it says your file was approved in X days - is that counting from when it was sent or the NOA1? Must be the sent date right? Or can I just not count, because my own calendar count seem lower than others with the same NOA1 date. Just curious.

will do. Any action for you? Regarding your petition of course!!!! Hope it is soon for you. BTW, I just called USCIS trying to speak with someone in regards to if we get a RFE. I think we will. So, I told the guy I was concerned, told him what we sent in for evidence (pics but they don't have dates, and passport pages, which is all the atty told us to send in). I told him I wanted to be prepared for RFE if we got one. Then I said that although we have many pics in UK and US, none have dates on them. I said we went to a professional photographer and they could print pics up with the date on them as evidence. I said we also have copies of airline itineraries with both of our names on them but not the actual boarding passes. After going through all of this, he said he does not have the answer and that I would have to make an info pass. Unfortunately, the nearest local office is two and a half hours away. I fear that if I make the appt, I will get the same lack of answers that I just got...wait and follow the instructions on the RFE. DRRRRR. After reading someone elses RFE, I still don't know if the evidence I just listed would suffice.

Wow, some weeks really are slower than others (at least for VJ people), huh?
Yeah, I compared the NOA2s with December 2006 NOA1s(a month earlier than our January NOA1s), and a year ago NOA1s from January 2006. The NOA1s from January this year are lagging weeks behind previous months and a year ago. Reasonable speculation is due to a sudden load of HB-1 work visas.

Okay guys, I really have a good feeling about next week approvals. Judging by the weekly stats, it looks like CSC really kicks out those approvals towards the end of the month...at least for the last couple the numbers are high towards the end. I really hope for all of you that are up for an approval soon that it comes next week. On another note, I just found out today that I am headed for England to see my sweetheart. I am so excited I am just peeing myself. It will be a quick trip, but most importantly I get to see him. I have missed him so much. 11 days and counting...yippeeeeee!!!!!!

I predict a touch for the 1/29 crew....maybe an approval or two.

Woo Hoo for going to see the sweetheart - going to see mine in 24 days!!! I'm a happy girl. Ew - California, your flight's longer than mine! Bless you! I'll try not to fuss too much about the 10 hours.
Hoping to see lots of actions from CSC this week!
