If we receive our NOA1 that means we won't get an RFE?

NOA1 basically means 'we got it'.

Maybe "NOA" is not the best string of letters to use. The NOA1 merely represents receipt of the application and is the official notice that your immigration case has been created. At this point, your case is at the bottom of a long list and has not been reviewed, scrutinized or judged.
The only thing you can be sure of is that your application materials were sufficiently prepared that a human worker knew to add you to the K-1 inbox
Thus, your "NOA1" is
not an indication that your application is complete and satisfactory.

'NOA' stands for 'notice of action' - not sure what other string of letters could be used.

Right; I just mean the 'NOA' bit is easily confused. The NOA1 is a notice of receipt (that's what the action is).
Just for fun, let's change NOA1 to
NOR, and NOA2 to
Holy Grail.
I'm kidding. There's no need to mess with tradition.

Heehee.. As far as I know, it would not be a big problem any time soon. But I've heard that some petitioners sent their NOA1 and 2 to their benificiary prior to their interview. Hope you made your account on uscis.gov to track the status of your petition.

Hey all.
I filed my I-129F petition at the Vermont Service Center January 2007. I got NOA 1 saying they recieved it January 17, 2007 and received NOA 2 stating approval January 25, 2007. I just got the letter from NVC saying they received the petition from VSC and will be sending to Manila Embassy within the next week. I was really surprised it was approved so fast. Good luck to all of you.

Congrats Chris47,
I must say though, it is hard to not be just a little bitter at the fact of the difference in processing times between the two centers. I mean, I haven't even checked the status of my case with California yet because I know it is 2 to 3 months away from even being looked at. With Vermont, you might get approved the next day.

Anyway, this does not take anything away from those lucky few who get to file with Vermont, I am glad their wait at least may not be so bad. Oh well, back the the waiting room...

I've been waiting for my NOA1 for a while now. I called my father back in the States this weekend and he goes something like, "Oh yeah, you got something in the mail from the government about a week and a half ago." Arghhh!!! I would think something like that he would have emailed me about since he knows we are going through the visa process.
I guess they don't send them overseas and sent it to my permanent address. Good thing my father is still there every other week or I might have ended up waiting for the NOA2 for a long time in the future.

Though I am happy for all, at every successful stage of their journey. Vermont filers seem to show-of

and rub it in our faces,

that they receive NOA2's in 14

days while we wait 90

. Once again, I am happy for all.
However all Vermont filers just keep the comments and excitement in regards to approvals more low key if possible ( come on we are all rational adults; 14 days does not compare to 90, and seriously how excited, anxious and nervous can a person really get knowing approval will come so quickly).

It's not cute to show-off.
Hey, maybe you lucky Vermont people should open your own forum, you guys can show-off

and brag

about who receives the quickest approval. Mybe even takiing wages on ( who will and when will the 3 day NOA2 occur )

Congrats on the Approval!!!
Sorry about the timeline differences between CSC and VSC - it sucks and I can't imagine knowing I'd have a min 3-month wait. However, VSC is not necessarily guaranteed either. I know of two folks on VJ that had their files go missing and waiting for weeks/months. Not to mention depending on which embassy you're going to the wait could be even worse than with the processing centers. Amman, for me best case we'll get an interview 9 months out from receipt in Amman:(
