Someone help us, please....

On her packet she received from the Embassy, it simply says to visit DAS and receive a document showing her entries/exits. She visited locally in Barranquilla and received this quickly. However now we are hearing in other posts about receiving a Certificado de Migratorio that is only available in Bogota and takes 3 days to receive. Her letter from the empbassy said nothing about this.

Anyone with Colombia-specific experience have any info?

Brad, did Vickie recieve her Package 4 yet? If so, it should list the specific requirements there. For the K3 Spouse Visa, the Carta Migratoria is REQUIRED. I would assume it would be the same for a CR1 visa. You can call the embassy TODAY from 2-4pm for free and inquire. I would do this if I were you!!!

Good luck.

I guess what I am looking for here is someone with CR-1 specific experience on DAS. She feels that a local DAS document from Barranquilla is sufficient based on the list she received in the packet. However we have seen where other K1-ers have had to wait days to receive a specific one from the Bogota office.

She has been trying to reach the embassy, I just cant believe that they force you to get a document that takes 3-days wait time in Bogota and only send you a list of these documents 2 weeks ahead of time....again referring back to the question if the DAS document can only be received in Bogota?!?!?

Totally confused at this point...and pissed because tickets have already been purchased!

She did finally get a hold of the Embassy and they told her that the DAS Certificado del Migratorio is optional, and it depends on the case as to whether it is necessary. She said we can get it if we choose, but if my wife has never entered or exited the country before then it will probably not be requested. To be safe, we are paying for the app in a bank today and going to apply for it on monday while in Bogota, but will not have it in time. At least if the DO want it, we can pick it up the day after the Visa Appointment and return to the embassy with it.

One more nice little surprise. Hope all goes well for you Brad, did Vicky say what the certificate costs? I guess since Ceci has left the country one time she just as well get hers as well. Any way, good luck and have a great trip. I am sure you are anxious to get there.

Yes, I would DEFINITELY suggest from what I am hearing that she gets it...and PLAN AHEAD! From what I can tell, if you do not go to Bogota early and wait the three days to get it then it takes about a month to apply for it and receive it locally! According to DAS it costs 37,000COP at the bank.

Thanks....and I'll update when I know more!

Brad, I had my wife ask our friend that works for DAS in Baq and he said you only need have that certificate if she has left the country with her passport. But if she has no stamps on her passport then it is not required. Good luck in Bogota.......
