Hello My question is abit complex and complicated... plz bear with me.
I am Premanent resident of the US over 8 yrs, and I did not get my GC from a marriage. I have filed for my N-400 citizenship this month and of course still waiting on that.
I am married but my husband lives aboard.
Looking throu all the gov www and here on VJ it *look* like waiting for my N-400 which could take who knows how long then applying for DCF (which is availible in my husband's country)... I *estimate* this process will take about year or maybe even 1,5.
So my question is... I know being a PR here in the US I can also file ... but the process takes longer... so I am wondering is it worth it for me while I wait for my N-400 to file a petition for my husband as PR also? And if anyone could tell me *about* the average timeframe is...is anyone in the boat as me here? Filed N-400 but waiting... trying to bring their spouse?

Thank you all very much. Your replies are much appreciated.

Unless I missed the complexity that you refer to in your post, it seems rather straightforward to me. Your husband is an alien, and an LPR (such as yourself) can petition USCIS by way of an I-130 (Alien Relative Petition) now, which falls under the Family Preference category and subject to priority date for the issuance of a visa. Once you become a USC by Naturalisation you can inform your regional office, by way of a letter and accompanying proof of citizenship, that you wish for the petition you had submitted on behalf of your husband and as an LPR to be upgraded. Once it is upgraded (there is no formal form submission to cover this request other than a letter, as far as I am aware, which I would certainly mail by return receipt) your alien husband would now be an immediate relative of a US citizen and a visa will be immediately available.

I thought my situation was complex, but glad to hear it straightforward. With DCF not availible in the consulates anymore... We are back to thinking of what to file.
Now I am confused on K3 and CR/IR1... I will be doing some more reading, but probably will be back with some more questions.
Thanks again for the help Mermaid.
