Dear Kimi,
We were here last week preparing for our interview as you are now, going over every document, every piece of evidence, checking the order of doc., trying to anticipate every possible scenario that may happen at the interview, looking for any thing that we might overlooked, talking about my background, organizing photos in certain order, reminding her to try to speak English, etc... and etc... And right after waking her up to get ready for the interview, I prayed for her calmness, patience, wisdom, blessings and strength from God. She almost cried before she left. And I was patiently and anxiously awaiting the outcome.
I can guess what you are feeling now in anticipation for this interview.
My prayer is with you both. So the end of this process is near and just a little bit more. So get that pink slip!
May God bless you both.

Hi dalegg,
It's Kimi who is asking this question. I believe that he provided them with 1040 and W2. It sounds like they feel that the income was not sufficient. I am just guessing from reading all the other threads.
Kimi, can you clarify your situation?

Yes, I know that. I was wondering since you had a recent interview also if they had changed their requirements or if this was just something that comes up as a normal part of A.R now. When my wife had her interview, they asked for 1040s and W-2s. Are they always asking form these transcripts now?

Hi Tony,
The income of 2005 is over 40K presented on both W-2 and 1040 and i live alone with mom. But i wonder why they requested 1722. How about your case? what kind of forms you submitted them ?
Rgds,
Kimi

Jan 29 2007, 01:40 AM
I submitted my 2005 1040 and an employment letter for 2006. My income for 2005 was low and I did not have a W2 since my income came from other sources for 2005. However, I showed that I own a house with a good size equity along with plenty of savings, mutuals, and life insurance. So I am not sure which of these items got me over the hump.
Dalegg, I don't think they changed their procedure recently. I think we just don't understand their metrics.

Tony,
this is beneficiary. we did the same, now they keeping employment letter stated salary over 43k, the letter from his school HR confirm he is working there permanently since 2000, tax W-2, 1040, letter of banks of confirmation of bank amounts of checking, deposit, pay-stubs for several months, all Dave portfolios of retirement plan and requested for form 1722. i think we submit the income good enough.

Hi Kimi,
A few things that are different in my case: my fiance submitted her bank verification of her own funds which is substantial in the Vietnamese standard, but they did not keep her statement, however, she showed that she worked for an American insurance company for 5 years and currently with a British insurance company; which means she can continue her same line of work quite easily and quickly in the states if she wishes. I don't know if these factors would have made a difference or not.
I just don't understand their financial metrics at all.
To me a 1722 means a transcript of tax returns of the past 3 or several years, and form 4506 requests the actual copy of the tax return for 1 or multiple years. So why was your 1040 for 2005 not sufficient? Why do they want to see other years? Maybe some other members can shed some lights on this situation. I am stumped.
Besides, the new rule only requires the last year's tax return. It's quite odd.

Dear Kimi,
The requirement and instruction were in Packet 4, Kevin used to upload for your reference, I don't know if you read it yet.
They said about the form W2 in the instruction.

OK regarding the IRS1722, The IRS no longer calls that form 1722. However if you call them and wait long enough while on hold you will be able to speak with a person and tell them that you need a history of you IRS statements and they will ask you for what year, if you want your 2006 you must had already process your tax’s six weeks in advance in order to get it. It takes six weeks to process your 2006 clams. I know sometimes it is hard and confusing working with there unjustified and arrogant demands but just hang in there and good luck to all. Kimi,
I know what you must be going through, stay focused please. Just call the IRS and request your tax transcript for 2005. It took ours about 2 weeks to get to me. First and foremost, get the consulate what they need.
It seems they are nickel and diming you, but just play the game and everything will turn out. I don't think it is your income amount they are caring about, I think you are focusing on that too much...I think it is as simple as getting them the transcript that they want.
If you want to be a bit pro-active, also request your transcript for 2004 as well.
STAY FOCUSED!!! We are here for you.

Was there a tex transcript included with the 1040 and W2 ?
Question for all : The tax transcript I got look very plain & unofficial, no signature no seal. Is that what everyone that passed used or was it more official looking ?
Thanks

Mine has a cover letter, with a stamp like sig but it all looks like a copy of a copy. Not really nice looking or original. I would assume since the entire country gets thier statements from the same place that the consulate knows what these look like and expect it to look like so.

After a long wait on the phone IRS operator was very nice and I got a copy of my tax transcript right away. For those who haven't done it yet shoul called 1-800-829-1040 and requested your transcript. I also requested one mail to me in case the fax copy is not good enough.
Vietnam, can you create a FAQ for HCMC for case like this for the future reference?
Again I hope the best for you, Kimi.

I used to tell to my fiance about this form (IRS-1722) but he didn't believe me, he said this is the old form and it cannot show clearly his income, so he wanted to use the form IRS-1040 and W2. I tried to persuade him to get IRS-1722, finally he required it for me but he didn't send to me yet. Now. he will have to send to me urgently in this week. I will bring to the interview both forms of tax transcription. I don't know what is the most reasonable one, I just want to pass this period smoothly, just supply what documents they want.
So, sometime the unreasonable thing is required ????

While waiting on the submitting the form 1722, she noticed that a lot of K visa applicants have to submit this form as additional information. The you should added this form to your checklist for interview to prevent the delaying.
