I'm one of those girls who's boyfriends proposed unexpectedly and we married very unplanned and in the spare of the moment while I was here as a visitor (VWP).

Now we're sending in a petition for alien relative, AOS, and EAD. The question is> When I get my EAD, can I apply for a ssn without a valid I-94? Can anyone who's been in this situation please help me with the answer. We can not possibly be the only ones doing this.

We've heard from a lawyer a while ago that it would be possible to do this, but I'm not sure how. It doesn't make any sense that they would approve a EAD if it wasn't possible for me to work anyway because I couldn't get a ssn....? Or?

Yes all the SSA office needs to issue a SSN is EAD, or Green card. Only K-1 visa holder shows an I-94, in the case of a K-1 they consider that visa type to be work authorized for the period of the I-94.

So once you have EAD go to the SSA office and get the SSN.

I was in the same situation as you.... I married on a VWP. Once you get your EAD you can get your SSN... dont worry about the I-94 you dont need it.

Good Luck
