It's definitely a Monday. I didn't sleep well, so I woke up late and scrambled to get here, only to be bombarded by a million questions the second I walked in the door. Of course, I can't get the answers to the questions until I have a minute to look through my files, but it doesn't keep everyone from standing over me. Luckily, I found everything lightning fast, but have a feeling someone will be coming into my office again soon for more questions....
On a lighter note, there's all kinds of good tv on tonight! Heroes, 24, and Prison Break! Yay!!!!
Hope everyone has a fun Monday!

I cut my hair this weekend

I love it , my husband loves it and so does my family. I was soooo happy with the results. My hair USED to be a little above the bottom of my back .... now its shoulder length.
Also, I had my cap & gown portraits done on the same day I cute my hair and they turned out great. I was a little sad at first because I thought I looked fat (I have gained 30 pounds so far) .. but everyone said I looked like a cute pregnant lady .. not fat.
Hmmm what else ? Ali and I discovered a new restraunt that sells the best shawerma we have had in our lives. The cool part is it's up the street from my OBGYN. So whenever I have a appt. we get shawerma.
Amera,
Your Muslim right ? When I go to pray and I isjood (when you put your head on the floor) my head hurts sooooooo bad. It hurts so much that instead of praying I just sit there and count the seconds till Ali says "Allaho Akbar" so I can get up. Is it fromt the access blood ? Did you have this problem when you were PG ? Any suggestions ? Thanks

When my arthritis is acting up I actually pray while sitting down. It's ok to do this if you don't feel good I think. Might want to try it instead. wouldn't want to faint on the floor!!!

Massouna - Yes the same thing happened to me. I think that it's a combination of stretching over your growing stomach and just the increase in blood flow that goes with the 3rd trimester. I had some fainting problems when I got into the 3rd trimester and the Dr. warned me to move much more slowly or I could easily pass out. Sometimes when we prayed I would go to my knees and just bend my head down towards my neck. If I was too light headed then I just sat down and did prayers. I'm wondering if you know the answer to this question. Youssef said that after you have a baby you can't pray for 40 days. But what if the blood has stopped (as it obviously should before 40 days)? Do you know anything about this requirement?
ANyway - Monday morning back at work for me...i miss my baby!

Jan 22 2007, 11:35 AM
Yousseff probably hears that women don't pray the first 40 days ... which is because of blood. When there is no blood you can pray. However, I can double check with my mom. General rule of thumb is whenever there is blood you can't pray and when there is no blood you can pray. Explain to him that most women have blood for 40 days and that is why he's thinking that.
Thanks for the tips on prayers ... I appreciate it

Melly - I work in insurance full-time and part-time (on a project by project basis) work with the Islamic Society of North America. It was hard to leave, but he's home with daddy for 3 weeks (Youssef is working only a few days in the next couple weeks and we have my mom to help out too). I make 2x's what he does so it makes more sense for me to be working now, esp with him going to Morocco in a few weeks. I think he will enjoy the time he gets to spend with the baby and honestly it was kind of nice to be around adults all day even though I did miss him!
Massouna - - did your mom have any more guidance on the prayer issue?

Wow, it's great you get to do work for ISNA. I would love to have a job working in some capacity with other muslims or in that environment.
And yeah, I guess it must have been nice to have a day off.

Yeah but I think that is just as important. I wouldn't want to marry a man that didn't want to be around his family. You love his sisters now, but you don't know them that well. You will have ups and downs with all family members, his and yours, but in the end they are family and all we really have in life.
