Hi All,

My fiancee Hydy and I got engaged a month ago and now we're trying to decide whether to go the K-1 or K-3 route. We don't have really strong preferences about whether to get married in the U.S. or the Philippines. Basically we want to go with whichever option would get Hydy to the U.S. the fastest and with the best chances for approval of the visa. We have heard that the K-1 is no longer a very good option for the Philippines, that it takes longer and has lower rates of approval than the K-3, but we haven't really seen clear evidence showing that one visa is faster or more likely to be approved than the other. Can anyone out there point us to some info or resources that would help? Thank you.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT CLEARLY THE K-1 FIANCE VISA IS STILL THE FASTEST WAY TO HAVE HYDY IN THE U.S. THE K-3 HAS BEEN MOVING A LOT FASTER THAN I THINK IT USED TO BUT STILL THE K-1 IS THE FASTEST. I WOULDNT WORRY TOO MCH ABOUT APPROVAL HISTORY. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION OF HAVING MET, RELATIONSHIP, YOURE BOTH SINGLE, AND YOU EARN ABOVE THE POVERTY LEVEL YOU SHOULDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT HELP TO ME IN THE PROCESS. RELYN AND I ARE WAITING ON HER ANNULMENT AND THAT IS THE WORST THING WE WILL GO THROUGH IN TRYING TO GET THE VISA AND GET MARRIED. GOOD LUCK BOB. AND KEEP US POSTED HOW YOURE DOING. PATRICK

Hello Bob,

I knew a lot of FIlipina whose case is K-1 and they are approved.
Our case is K-1 too and from the date of filling last July 21, it tooks 64 days before my fiance got a notice of approval from USCIS on Sept 21. Then my interview will be FEb 23 already. So it is around 7 months. K-1 and K-3 visas process about 6-8 months. The only thing that the case got delayed is because of the papers.

But I know there are also some advice for you from the members here and if you want, you can also join us at "The World of Filipinas" and for sure, you wil get lots of info there.

Good luck!

Hello,and a thought for you.

I thought I would do a K3 and skip the K1 because they were as fast, but instread chose to get married and decide between K3 and CR1 hoping the K3 was fast. But it turns out we are almost done at NVc doing the CR1 and our K3 is still not approved. On time lines here this seems to be a constant with K3's. They are hit and miss, and not reliable per the time lines as they said.
Go K1 and get married here in the states if her not working and such are not an issue to you, or having her family miss the wedding. If you want to be together sooner.........K1 all the way!
Good luck,
Randy

P.S. Check out my web site it may have a few things for you to check out out all in 1 spot.
Hope it helps.
